No doe till September 15th. Buck only till then. I'll be rubbing my lucky horse shoe on my bow till then.

Oldcarp perhaps. I don’t think his grand daughters are in the contest.

Thanks! Actually happened last November. I kept it on the DL since I had to make the trip to Ohio. 1 week married and she met the rest of the family lmao. But im definitely going to enjoy it! I just looked at the weather and the highest temp is 68 and lowest is 48. I need a break from this heat. Heading to Alaska!

Definitely going to be soaking it up! Going up there for a week. Hopefully we will see the northern lights. I mentioned my grand father passed away but nothing about the wedding. I was the groom, caterer, constructor, greeter. It was a stressful week, I don't remember if I even hunted that week. I think I did. But I smoked ribs, pork butt and Mac and cheese. We decided to postpone the honeymoon because I wasn't able to get any time off work.

We had 6 stocks today. One of my granddaughters got with in 39 yards of a little fork horn. When she drew back she accidentally hit her trigger on her release. The buck ran off. It was actually pretty cute. She worked her way back to us and said she messed up. We told her all the times we’ve blown opportunities. She looked at me and said “Papa you have missed before” she was shocked I Had ever missed.
Were focusing on the girls this weekend. Wednesday I will start hunting for myself.

Well went for a short walk just to check what the oak crop looks like yesterday. Got absolutely demolished by seed ticks. Complete nightmare. Daily reminder to treat your clothes with permethrin for those that have forgot lol

Seed ticks are the worst. They tore me up the year before last, got all up under my fingernails and everything.

On the bright side, seed ticks cannot make you allergic to meat like adult ticks can because ticks aren’t able to themselves produce the alpha-gal protein that causes the red meat allergy. They have to acquire the protein by feeding on a red-meated animal before they can transmit it to you. When it comes to seed ticks, they can’t make you allergic to meat because you are the first meal of their lives and they haven’t yet had a chance to acquire the protein that causes the allergy. Same thing applies to Lyme, RMSF, tularemia and all the other tick-borne diseases; the tick has to first become infected with the bacteria or virus that causes the disease before it can transmit it to you. Since ticks can only become infected with those diseases by feeding on an infected animal, it’s impossible for seed ticks to be infected because they haven’t ever fed on any animals other than you.

Good info. They clearly had a feast of a lifetime on my big ass ha. Takes this happening every once in awhile to remember why I treat my clothes! I must be a slow learner hahaha

I can not wait for this deer season. Last year was the first year in the contest that I was not able to contribute a deer for points. Ready to get back on the stand and put down some deer for the freezer! Anxious to see the teams here in a week.
