    Interesting twist, it actually makes sense too. I'd actually make it a permanent rule even if teams get to the 8 member threshold. 7 members win and one has zero contributions, out you go and they get replacements in the next lottery.

    In the past I have always been somewhat vocal at times about the ones who fail to check in not being DQ'd for future contest(s) as stated in the rules. Been awhile since I have read the rules, but same could be said for those that kill but fail to enter kill(if not already there).

    I've often thought of ways to increase participation. Not sure of legalities and such but one thought was an entry fee that gets distributed to the winning team. $3-5 to enter and it gets pooled to be divided amongst the winning teams members. Secondary entries for biggest buck could be had, $10 per entrant and only those entered are eligible. There'd be no handling fees or anything associated so wouldn't be any different than doing a square board for the Superbowl.

    $4 to enter, 8 members per team 200 entrants is $800 pool, if all members contribute they get $100. If only 6 on the winning team contribute points they get 133.33 and the other 2 have to sign back up the following year.

    Less if entry fee is less, more if more. Wouldn't need to DQ anyone for lack of participation as they lose entry fee regardless.

    Not advocating for it, just throwing out thoughts. Past and present.

    We plan to take it down to 8 next year if possible, but once we get the teams drawn down to the target size, eliminating someone from the winning team every year who doesn’t put up points wouldn’t be a good idea. If you think about it, doing that would be giving the winning team a chance to get stronger the next year. They might get rid of someone who is lucky to kill a doe and get someone like B Hicks as a replacement. Besides, we all have bad years. In 2016 I didn’t kill a single deer with my bow.

    Also, I don’t agree with banning someone from participation because they don’t check in. The rules just say they can be replaced with an alternate. Life happens and sometimes folks just forget or they have something go terribly wrong and the forums are the least of their concerns.

    Now as far as people killing deer, posting that they have killed deer and then ghosting, that will get someone blocked from future contest participation. I’ve already blocked a few people from participating for doing that very thing.
