End of the year a time of looking back and forward. So, somewhat as a riff on the virus thread...maybe politics... Both? So a time capsule thread for next year. hypothetically, what happened in 2021? What did we learn? What are the EOY or top 2021 headlines? As we look to start 2022...

The vaccine was not the cure, but more of a shorter term deterrent (E.g. Antibodies wear off)?

President Harris is asking for Trillions more aid, due to record unemployment and still smoldering, metro, virus hot zones.

    Bitcoin 50k.

Joe shoots a freak 165" deer?

    Let er rip...

It seemed that rioting became the new norm in 2021.

Well with all the wealth distribution and communist/socialist plots to destroy the US that I have read and been assured will be happening, smh, I highly doubt will will even time. I imagine we will all be standing in bread lines and going before death panels anyway. Not me though, I plan on assembling a rag tag group of local high school kids and a once upon a time star quarterback to fight back the communists by living hand to mouth in a rugged mountain setting. Oh sure, times will be tough and I am sure the spoiled rich kid in our group may try to betray us but in the end I will personally settle a score with an aging Cuban communist and send him to meet his maker. Y'all probably will not be around to thank me but your children's children will tell tales of us and then scream "Labradoodles!!!"

    1. President Harris signs an executive order to end the 2nd Amendment in 2022.
    2. The Pacific Coast and NE states descend into a vegan hipster version of Mad Max dystopia: man buns, boots with fur and an electric scooters.
    3. Midwest and southern states ignore the illegal executive order, use National guard troops to build walls along the southern border, a line-running North to South from Idaho to Mexico, fence in Colorado, Chicago, Atlanta, and everything NE of the line of MO, TN, NC.
    4. The NFC East has a divisional champ in the playoffs with a losing record for the umpteenth time in a row.
    5. Detroit Lions win the Super Bowl after Barry Sanders comes out of retirement.
    6. To counter balance the increasing federal taxes all conservative states eliminate state and local income and property taxes and move to sales tax only.
    7. @Swamp Stalker kills a booner while wearing a boonie.

Melania leaves the Don. He's so distraught, it leads to depression, then to an asylum... It's not nice to fool with Stormy.

Honestly...I think this is the future for many states....at minimum elimination of state and local income taxes. Property I foresee being tougher to eliminate.

I agree about property tax being harder to get rid of, especially when the geniuses who came up with it, made it the sole source of funding the schools in the state. Looking at you Arkansas.:deadhorse:

Yeah, our lottery is supposed to fund college scholarship programs for kids from low income families. In its five year history, only 30% of the money raised has actually been given out in scholarships.

Property Taxes fund majority of state funds like you describe if they exist.

Indiana where I live is same way. I know some that say if the state is going to operate in such a manner, it should be illegal to vote on any State elections unless a property owner...
