Missed Early illinois Goose opener for first year in a long time. Doves are flying but i dont have the time to go after them right now either. How about everyone else? You northern guys been pulling triggers?

Duck won't get good for me for a few more months. I did not pull the trigger on a dove hunt this past Saturday. Not sure if we will do a Sept goose hunt this year or not as we mainly go after duck instead of goose. Looking forward to this season and what it will bring.

there were a lot of Doves killed on the opener, still some left around .. I could hear all the shots over on the F&W area from where I work.. talked to a few guys who limited out ... our early Teal/Goose dosnt open till the 10th, reg duck/goose isnt till the 3rd week Oct ... I'll be checking stand locations, rather than waterfowl hunting that early season weekend ... did snipe a few squirrels last Fri. while checking stand locations, glad I did check 'em, one great spot was wiped out by some straight line winds with the storm that blew thru the place, many YUUUGE Cottonwoods snapped or up rooted (looks like crap back in there !!), got other locations damaged by the winds, but still huntable ... hope my other spots are OK, I'll see next Fri. .. .... good luck to the waterfowl/dove guys

I went up to the WMA I adopted Saturday and Sunday morning expecting hunters for the early goose and teal season. The gates were open so they could drive down to the wetland but no takers this weekend.

Hardly any teal around here right now, didn't bother with Iowa's teal season.

I need to replace some walls in our blind. I know, Shoulda been done in May. Guess ill try to sneak out there and bust some geese/make repairs next chance i get. There are enough locals to get a few limits.

Last year was the first time in many years I hunted waterfowl.(geese).
My dog,Roscoe struggled fetching them up. Had he heart but not the power.
I could go now and pass shoot them now and sit in the same bush we sat by last year but alas.., most likely not gonna do it.
    It would be really lonely.

Nice to see this thread back up in action! Been a bit crazy around here lately for me ever since my wife and I welcomed our first baby boy into the world 3 weeks ago! My little future hunting buddy...can't wait!

Went out for early goose opener a few weeks back and that is the only waterfowl hunting I've done so far. Life is too crazy right now to find any time for it.
