Who's been seeing good velvet so far? I don't often see much unroll later in the summer. So far it's been a few spoilers, and two really nice prospects. A really tall rack.and a nice wide one. I put the card back in the Mayberry cam . Doe fawn WAY TO MANY raccoon some turkeyand scrawny Fox. Mayberry trees would be perfect if it weren't for the raccoon draw

I never have bucks on my place until the rut, but I do have these. I wish I could see the bucks progress on my place.

It's hard to tell from those pics with their summer coat color, but those are elk. I wish I had bucks like that.

The old farmstead is across the canyon from my property. The pics are from the spot that you identified as possible bedding when you looked at the topo, just down over the hill from where I shot my deer last year on my north neighbor's line. The one I call "Cougar Trail" from getting several cougar pics on it in the past. It has a great 4 way intersection of trails where my camera is at, one running the fence line and one going from the skid trail on my side across the fence onto the neighbor's place. Years and years ago the whole area burned and the skid trails cross property lines since there was a giant mutual logging operation to cut out all the trees that died in the fire but were still standing.
This Spring I've gotten a few doe pics, a couple bear, and quite a few elk pics at that intersection.
Unfortunately this unit is draw only for a bull tag (October any weapon), they only give out 60 or so and it is known for good bulls so the drawing odds are horrible. I put in for it faithfully from the age of 12 until I was about 37 or so, never once have I drawn it. I gave up in disgust. I honestly prefer archery hunting them during the rut anyway, but this unit would have great potential for a wall hanger.
I'll dig up a pic of a really good bull I got on camera a few years ago.

This is a bull still in velvet around mid July, would’ve loved to have seen him after he shed his velvet.

Not as impressive as yours but I'm mainly fawn right now. It didn't take long for them to discover the beans though. Mental notes to keep coming back looking for green up...lol. The difference between a wide open bean field in full view of a busy road and one that is in the woods amongst cover. lets see what happens. It just may be his regular route to that big bean field behind us. Either way win win.

BTW guys correct me if you think differently...
That spike is it hair loss as in coat change or is it loosing spots ? those are either sub par spikes or really big for a fawn.
I mention often that I see tiny prints in the snow and breeding in Sept. I'm thinking a late winter birth, but my eyes are old ya know :). What say you?

Repeat visitor at a camera I put up last weekend. Going to be a dandy by the time it’s all said and done. ~Missouri~

My vote would be losing spots, but it is pretty big for that to finally be happening.

A.J. did a grid search of lower hay plot and kicked out a very spotted fawn. It nearly ran me over , I could have slapped it's back as it flew by me. It was a good sized button but clearly new spotted coat.
