Went ahead and put in for Wyoming antelope. Gonna be in the area, so what the heck. Get rid of my points before things go nuts out there. May cut into my Illinois deer hunting, but oh well. Hoping to find a nice fall bear too. Be fun to do a trifecta.
How many points did it take to draw? I am currently sitting with two points and plan on buying another point next month for elk. I have two points for antelope.
I probably won't apply until 2023 unless the Canadian border opens up and I can do my Alberta elk hunt this year (not expecting that). So I will probably have four points when I apply.
Last I heard, maybe sometime in July. The way the creep is going, I hope 4 points is enough. I’m looking into SD for next year.
I think July 21 is the present date...possible it will be further extended though. @cantexian fwiw WY has about 25% random tags. You needed about 2.5-3 pp for general...if you don't draw random.
You need to remember to let me know when you're going to be here since you're only going to be a bout 40 minutes away.
My plan for this season is just to kill deer. I'm a creature of habit and I don't deviate much from my normal routines. I'll start in Kentucky on the first Saturday of September. Missouri opens on the 15th of September and Arkansas opens on the first of October. I've never applied for any out of state tag and I most likely won't. I'm away from home enough as it is just hunting the places I have.
It has been the last Saturday of September for at least 10 years. I have hunted every opener in September for at least that long. I have only missed it the two times I was elk hunting.
I'm like LC, I'll just be doing my normal routine, although I may add Fall bear hunting this year. I have/would take one incidentally during elk season if the opportunity was there, but I rarely target them in the Fall. With the really late snow I didn't get a bear hitting the bait until really late in the season this Spring and by then I had family obligations that kept me from ever hunting it. I'm clear out of bear summer sausage. I rarely put in for a draw tag of any kind, they don't have any related to archery in local units, and none related to muzzle loader that gives any kind of advantage for elk or deer. They do have some Mule deer draws that aren't bad, but I have no interest in them, I flat out prefer whitetail. So, archery elk in September, then some bear hunting in October, and then the whitetail rut in November.
