It’s well in to this “new” year. Starting out kinda the same as the last year. Hope things start turning around.
Wondering what hunts anyone has planned for this year. Where ya going and what’cha hunting?
I’m headed to Texas in a couple weeks for a hog hunt. Turkey in Illinois in April then out to Spokane for turkey and Idaho for bear.
Put in for Wyoming elk and antelope, probably get the antelope and then Colorado for elk.
Let’s hear your plans for this year.

Sounds like quite the year! I’ll be chasing turkey and deer in Pa and Ohio. I also have a trip to Iowa 11/6-11/13 that I’m looking forward too. Good luck this season !

If all works out with work this year and being to step away in September, I may try to do a DIY muley hunt in Colorado. My dad just moved down to Kerrville Texas so he is scouting around to see what kinda trouble we can get in down there. Neither of us has ever had a chance on Axis deer.

Going to Iowa in November for whitetails. Nothing else planned hunting wise at the moment.

British Columbia for mountain goats, Ks, KY and NY for whitetails, kodiak for black tails, then at least one cat hunt and hopefully a late season mule deer tag is in the cards....
All to change if a good tag is drawn though

Applied for WY elk... will continue buying points for other draws. May try to draw a Montana deer permit again this year. Other than that, probably focus on my Ohio and Indiana rut hunts. Slowly but surely hunting PA less and less in favor of hunting elsewhere, so there's a good chance I end up somewhere else in the fall too. We go to Texas every other year for hogs and javelinas.. this year is our off year and I always wonder why we don't go every year lol.

Beautiful country down there. But the axis and blackbuck were hit really hard by the winter storms.

scan through that thread. Looks like the young ones were particularly crushed.

As to me, I will be chasing spring turkey and then whitetail for the first time down in Missouri, then my usual whitetail hunts in WI, MI.
    Possibly KY as well.

Going to set up my stand on the farm and shoot some meat either a big doe or the first big bodied buck. Don't get me wrong I will sit and wait on a big buck if he is there on the regular but I think I will be hunting earlier.

Going back to public land hunting (South Carolina) but am going to do some regional traveling with that plan, including overnight stays.

I will also do the same old and just hunt areas near me. Idaho is nice for not really needing to go out of state.
First hunt of the year will be turkey. April 15th to May 25th. When turkey opens bear also opens, so I will start up the bait site. Both of these hunts are 45 minutes away on our own land. Already have 1/2 a freezer full of bait gathered, still need to pick up some fryer grease.
After that the long wait for September archery elk. Fall bear is also open, so if I didn't fill the tag in Spring then I would take an "opportunity" bear. These hunts are on State land, only 1 hour 15 minutes away.
Then October & November is whitetail, back on our property.
