In case you’re not familiar with it, here’s a pic of the Johnny King buck Heckler referred to.

Boone & Crockett scorers ruled that what appears to be the right G3 didn’t have a completely separate base so it was ruled an abnormal point.

This kept the buck from becoming the new world record typical buck.

I don’t care about a few inches in a score in the contest either. Like I said, I’ll enter whatever you go with.

The only way it would matter is if your team ended up winning by 1 or 2 points, and the odds of that happening are crazy.

I'm just doing this for informational and curiosity, gives something to talk about on the fourm. I have questions about it my self and want to learn from it. For the score, I did it as a common base and took the lowest score. That was good with me. Just interesting to see different takes on it. And in the end if it can help a single person, then it's great!

How about this LC, if we win or lose by a couple points this contest, I will buy you a case of your favorite beer!

Like you said, what the chances of that! Lol

Does @fowcbler get extra retro credit for using a Martin, Gamegetters and Thunderheads?

Here's an article that discusses it a bit further.

    https://www.boone-crockett.org/passion-score

Then here is an image that shows something more similar to @Holt's points, and calls it G2 and G3 with Mass measurement taken between. A commentor then calls out the same thing we are discussing

He replies with this, still trying to find the article, would be an interesting and possibly informative read if he followed through. Does it have to be matched on the other side etc..

I would have never thought it to be two G's with the mass measurement between.

He can never be entered any way. Animals have to be recovered same day as shot. Think I just missed that deadline! Haha, I've never put a buck in a book. But no matter what way he would be scored, he has over 14" of deductions. Doesn't even make the P & Y min. Lol

Right that is what I was getting at.Also he said if take that mass measurement between the 2 points, the webbing then becomes the base of the g2 and g3 from which you start your measurements. It is interesting. This is exactly what so many people were upset with the Johnny King buck. Although his buck and my buck are slightly different! I believe mine is a common point buck and happy the way I scored him. I just want to see what a pro would say.

Just remember guys I'm just doing this for fun. The measurements I posted stand, unless he comes back smaller, then I will have it adjusted.

No, but 100 cool points for being the first to drop a booner this year.

I missed your post. It doesn't matter to me. I'm just doing this for fun and future info. I actually scored it as 1 typical and the other 1 as a non typical. I scored it last night and no matter which way you score it, it still has over 14" of deductions. Which puts him out of any min. Net score anyway. He's just a horrible lopsided rack on him that doesn't do him any justice.

Classic? It felt to right/perfect to be classic. But i mean I did inherit the entire setup (less the shafts) from my dad who used this to
go elk hunting back in 2012.

Ill totally take it, but I thought team 17 dropped a "booner" before I did, and mine didn't quite qualify for boon status on the FINAL score.

Gross score is all that counts around here. Nets are for fish. If someone dropped a booner before you, I missed it.

    Works for me lol.
And yeah it was Shawn Clark with that awesome back story buck that dropped the first BC.
I'm kinda worried now that I went so big on my first time out. Making me think i should've shot 1 of the two 8 pointers that were there same time to start small .
