    @Holt

Not questioning or anything of the sort, just learning and trying to make sure I score deer correctly and such. is this how you scored the left side on your buck? Yellow G2 and blue Ab 1

NT points are always interesting in how they grow.

Awesome buck, actually thought he would have scored a bit higher field judging. Congrats again.

Secondly, shed in one of your pics, his or just a random find during the search?

He shocked me also. I'm going to get him scored by a official scorer, just for fun. I had a hard time with that left side and not sure I did it right. The veining of the antler is different on the outside then from the inside. So what I did is I made that taller point the g2 (purple ). Then the point off the back of that was his abnormal point coming off the g2, not the main beam(yellow). If I do it the other way, he actually scores in the 137 and change.

Here is a pic of the inside of beam. Notice how the veining is different from outside? 20211010_211217.jpg

Yeah, that's definitely a different perspective and interesting as well. That's kinda ceazy actually. I'll be interested in the professional scorers opinion if you have it done.

Wasn't expecting that at all, I can see it both ways truthfully.

I feel I'm a pretty good scorer and have tested myself against a official before and been really close. But this buck is different then anything I have seen. It definitely has me curious how it should be done. He was supposed to stop by this evening, but got hung up somewhere. So he said maybe Tuesday or Wednesday this week. I will update you when I find out.

I missed your shed question. It's his from the year before. Found in February and that was the reason I was hunting there, just for him. Only way I would have known were he lived.

He looks bigger than the 134 /137 i was thinking low 140s, the second view from the inside spread view looks better and i see @Holt took the high road and entered the low score. Sorry about questioning the shot distance

It's cool. I see were you got that from my wording. I agree he looks bigger then what he scores. I know pics can make a deer look bigger, but even in person he looks big. So far ever one that has seen him guess him to be mid 140's

Alright my buddy stopped by last night. He didn't measure it. But is going too in the near future. I had him look over the rack and give his thoughts on how he would score it. At this time he was thinking both those points are typical. So this is how it's gets measured in this case. Blue line is the base of the points. Red line is were the mass is measured. Then green and orange are measured from blue line to the tip of antler. With this configuration I came up with 136 7/8". I'm still going to leave the score how it is until he does the measurements him self to see what he gets.[IMG]

Both points are typical? Isn't this similar to the Johnny King buck debacle? I honestly thought that point would be scored as a non-typical. I am not sure it matters a whole lot for scoring purposes in the BHOD contest either way. I wouldn't beat yourself up over it for sure. Good deer!

It’s my understanding that in order for both of those tines to be typical they must have separate bases.

It’s very obvious (at least to me) that those tines share a common base on the main beam.

Since tine length is measured from the main beam to the tip of the tine I don’t see how what your friend is suggesting would be right.

Either way you go, I’ll enter whatever you decide to go with as a score.

He explained it to me that as long as there is a ridge of the tine that connects to the main beam, it can be counted as a typical point. The webbing between the 2 tines has a slight dish to it between the 2 tines. If there was not to a depression between the two tines were there contact the beam, then it's a common base.

When he scores it he said he will tape across it and shine a light on it. If it cast a shadow, then it can be scored as 2 typical pts. This is a difficult one, he even said he wasn't 100 percent sure which way it goes. Also he is a certified B&C scorer with about 500 bucks scored. I have confidence he will figure it out. I'm intrigued to see how this goes!

Also I'm not worried about a couple points LC. Just doing this for curiosity.

In case you’re not familiar with it, here’s a pic of the Johnny King buck Heckler referred to.

Boone & Crockett scorers ruled that what appears to be the right G3 didn’t have a completely separate base so it was ruled an abnormal point.

This kept the buck from becoming the new world record typical buck.
