At my established site that's been going for just about 8 years I get a crazy amount of pictures. I have my cam always set at quickest turnaround. I don't care if I have to go through 3,000+ pictures.
I'm putting a few out in 2 weeks. All on big public land spots, one of which I think I could kill a big one if I had the intel.
I have used water softener salt in areas with high hog concentrations. I have had hogs root a block to hell and gone. lately I have just been using livestock salt and mineral blocks. luckily no hogs in my area at this time.
I've been using the trophy rock for about 5 years now with good success. We have tried the trace minerals for livestock and stuff but I had no luck with those. I'll be checking my cameras this week on two new sites that I just set up and will post a few pics of what I have coming to those areas.
I'm going to make it a point (try to anyway) to check my mineral site cams once a month this year instead of once every 2 weeks. So hard not to sneak in and swap the cards weekly!
Last pic of an antlered buck is this half rack on the 11th. I put out a couple 20lb blocks of 30-06 from whitetail institute out to freshen a couple spots. First time using it but the sites are established. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That's kinda crazy that he's still holding this late in the season?? My buddy sent me a pic of a stud hes got in his backyard already sprouting off in velvet up to his g2's already
I see bucks still holding into April every year up here. I think thats why I never have much luck shed hunting. I can't wait to get some velvet pics. I don't usually hold to many bucks over the summer.
I have two sites that I dress with stocker salt, dicalcium phosphate and range mineral every year. Seems to work just fine. Costs me about half of what anything in a bag with a picture of a buck on it and works just as well.
I'm hoping to get a couple out in the next week or so. Some new public land spots just to check the inventory.
Just picked up one more trail cam and three mineral rocks. Putting them out there soon. Ill probably leave them out there until Mid August to get a gauge of the deer populations in those areas.
Putting one out on the island? I want to see the monster that resides there! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
I wish I could but that base doesn't allow trail cams. But from the track sizes I found out there this off season I can guarantee a few mature bucks live back there. I will be putting them out on a new state forest I scouted, and possibly one on a small section of a lake public land area.
Checked my cams today after 3 weeks. Nothing to write home about. Lot of action on the sites still though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
