Going to test the ice today going to remove more "buck thorn" and "red cedar" from the shoreline on the bay. Have a small cedar I am going to drop on the ice.
I love everything outdoors, but ice fishing is one thing I've never been able to try simply because I never have and never will live anywhere it gets cold enough for the lakes to freeze that thick. I'm kind of jealous of you guys.
Damn!!. I love fresh cold water fish but its always a joy bringing a package of it too elderly people. What were they hitting on?
We were the first group at “center bar” on red lake. It’s the spot everyone wants to get to early ice. Group of 10-15 of us got our limit in less than an hour and just had fun fishing. Beautiful fish. We were letting 20 inchers go almost all day. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Going to drill a hole this morning to see how thick the ice is. 2-1/4" a younger me would have fished on it.
Rock lake off Hwy 10 south of Rice they have portables out on the lake fishing on 4" of ice in 12' of water. Lake I live on is 60' deep lots of deep water 20' plus depth so the ice is thiner, not a lot of ice going to be made this week. Supposed to snow friday hopefully we have 4" of ice before the insulation falls from the sky.
Hey you can take the wheeler out to a preset up heated house, heck even if you get a little cold getting set up within 15 minutes after the heat is on you are sitting in the house in a t shirt.
Son in law is heading over going to try to fish in 10-12' of water luckily it is close to shore here. Heck it just gives me an excuse to cook and play with the grandson.
Crap I love that we are shortening winter with every warm day but it is going to be 50 Wednesday and snowing on Friday, not good for making ice.
Up at red lake again for the next 3 days. Will likely be my last time here. After this weekend this lake will not be the same with the amount of people here. Will report tomorrow with the fishing report. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
