So, how many points are you all thinking you can put in the board this year?

I’m thinking I might be good for 50 points to help out my team.

I'd like to think I can put up 100, but without scouting, prepping or anything more than showing up for first sit and adjusting from there it's not guaranteed.

As always, I'd love to get the 200+ club, but this year I have a feeling is going to be a scorcher for the rut.

    Fake modesty? Not me. :tu:

I always wonder who I’ll be put on a team with. Very rarely is it someone I know well from the forums.

I usually know everyone on my team pretty well by the end of the season though, and I guess that’s the point.

Oh, I can’t believe you disliked my post.

The 200” club is a pipe dream for me. Oh, it might be possible if I could kill Ghost or the big buck I have cruising here at home, must it would take a miracle.

Besides, if a 120” velvet buck gives me a chance in a couple of weeks I’ll lock myself out of it then and there.

I've learned to be choosey up until gun season here, anything can happen Halloween to opening day of firearm. I assume there will be a deer to fit the billing as I have seen one every year since 2011 when I decided to start passing on the smaller ones. I never know it to be true until the moment they come into view and either shoot him, miss or watch them out of range.

I tried being choosy for a few years when I first started participating in the contest.

I passed on bucks I would normally shoot hoping to get a better score for the team. I ended up not getting a buck with my bow at all every year that I did that.

I’ve since adopted the practice of shooting any deer that makes me want to shoot it.

I suppose if I ever get to the point that I want nothing less than a 150” buck I’ll pass on the smaller ones, but that just isn’t me and I honestly don’t see me ever getting to that point.

it was an intentional dislike so I could remove it later at my leisure. Feeling leisurely now with a half a bottle of cab under the belt.

personally I am due this year- I usually have a good year followed by a bad one.
Last year was really bad from a closing the deal perspective. I passed on a ton of does early just because it was hot or I was deep and didn't feel like dragging one out, then had some really good encounters with OK shooters but kept getting busted, and then when I finally got a shot I got antsy and punched the trigger, hit back and lost him.

I will go out on a limb and say I am good for 170 points. I should get a ton of time in the woods this year. 3 full weeks all spread out.

Honestly I feel this year is a toss up. On a mission to fill the freezer with does but any decent buck will be a complete surprise. Then again this is Missouri, so who knows.

I average about 80 points per season. You can safely pencil me in for 0-185 points this year.

if it's under 65* I am shooting the first doe I can. I am not going meatless another season.
Then I can shoot whatever makes me happy.

I agree, and to be clear, I don't eat tags because the age or antlers didn't reach a certain predetermination. Once my patience runs out brown and down takes over.

Granted, I have been very fortunate to hunt the land that I do. A lot of big woods, steep ridges, crops and ponds galore with little pressure from neighbors allows quite a few deer to mature and travel through this landlocked parcel.

Wish I had plots and ag fields to hunt, but while I will complain on hunts, I'll never ***** about the blessing I've been given.
