    Additional thinking (no extra charge)...

The CO elk camp, where several from this board gather, is even years...odd year event(s) somewhere mid or eastern US may be a long term option.

Selfishly, I'd love to try a Sitka deer hunt...MD I know avails that opportunity. This might be even more doable for some on the east coast.

You need A spot where there is a ton of public ground surrounding the campsite. I'm talking multiple tracks of public land so guys can spread out and hunt by themselves or in pairs.

And I would look at States that typically have cooler temperatures in late October and don't have gun season's opening anywhere near that period.

Also, if people want to go maybe a darn good idea to get out there in February or March and scout for a couple of days.

Ohio would work for me. I’m pretty firm on Columbus Day due to being a teacher I’m not really flexible with my schedule

well, not so much for the cool temps but that's another reason why I was thinking KY. They have a ton of public land for an eastern state. MI does also, but I don't think anyone wants to pay $200 for a chance to hunt a big ol' 110" Michigan "monster."

If I am able to make it down to KY for late season this year, I will do a lot of scouting. Even some boat scouting.

Also, if people have a hard time driving for long periods of time Swamp then you can always ship your gear to someone's house and fly in to a certain location. Then someone picks you up and that person can drive into camp together instead of stressing a person out making them drive 15 hours to a hunting get together.

The sika thing is very doable trip. There are camp grounds down in Dorchester country and a ton of public land marsh to hunt them. Black water refuge is the biggest place. The sika rut/bugle starts late September threw October. Early October is the best time. And you have the opportunity to shoot whitetail or sika with same tag. I believe you can shoot up to 3 sika, and 1 being a stag.

Eastern Ohio is doable for me. but again whatever majority wants! I agree with Brett, let's figure at most 10 people show up, we would need a good size chunk of public land to get everyone away from each other.

Columbus day weekend sounds like a winner for most? sounds like the easiest thing to vote on right now?

All in favor of columbus day weekend?

    I. I can also provide an extensive amount of camping supplies and treestands (climbers and hangers) for those who may not have what they need for this trip.

I live in vinton county and hunt a lot of public. I can honestly say I’ve seen a lot less out of staters this year. I always welcome them and the people that don’t realize their money gives us the land that we are hunting on ha.

The Sika thing is a whole deff beast... I have done super cool experience but it’s 180 from whitetail Hunting. GPS, thermacel, hip boots / waders are a must. With that said there is so decent public around black water for whitetails. All that said I still vote OH or KY lol. Need to bust out Busch light and mountain houses nothing like drinking beer around the fire telling hunting stories.
