At least you participate and converse. Some teammates check in and never hear from them again until you PM them about it and they get mad cause you called them out Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I’m wondering how the acorn crop will be this year. Any predictions? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Wow, I was off by a year. Been using a crossbow since 2015 season. So I haven't pulled a bow back since middle third of November 2014. Shot a doe after this one. Nov. 9th 2014 I think this one was. Last buck with a vertical bow. Pretty sure this was the one that I complained about seeing baby raccoons or opossums out playing in the daylight and 5 minutes later he came from behind to my left, straight, to in front to my left. Made a good shot and he went 100yds further than I would have ever thought onto the neighbors land. Was also the last deer I had my uncle along with me for the recovery. Was diagnosed with cancer the following year. I love that these contests get archived in a viewable format and not deleted. I go back to previous contests a lot for dates I shot my deer and relive so of thise hunts in the old LFTS threads. Good times. 2 1/2 109 and change busted up 13. Need to get his rack on a plaque actually now realizing it wad the last buck my uncle helped with the recovery.
It will vary by tree nd probably region.... I don't really know how to predict mast trees like that. I'm sure someone will chime in with their thoughts what region of OH might help to. I know some of OH got the same heavy precip a lot of the midwest got but northern OH was way different weather this past year than the rest.
and some shoot multiple deer on a nationally popular weekly webcast bowhunting show and don't post them on the scoreboard.
Im southern Ohio and we got slammed with rain this spring but summer has been really dry. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Same way it has been here. Haven't checked lately, but we were over 10" above normal for precip, but this July ended up top 10 easily driest ever. Would have been 4th driest with the forecast .15" yesterday but ended up closer to a quarter inch.
So for the year we are 7 1/4" abobe normal, but the month of July we are over 3 1/4" below normal and add in the recent heatwave that puts us in a abnormally dry stage but not quite drought.
Haha yea it was pretty cold. Think this was 2nd time I got snowed on last year. Good way to test out the new camo had tho ha. Last year was actually pretty awesome week I took off. Saw alot of bucks and coulda had few shots but unfortunately the ones kept seeing had broken racks. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
3 deer among two people, one has to be antlerless/2nd buck for 50, other two have to be 100 average or a good buck/small buck combo. Odd scenario.
Team 27 had at least 170 points that weren't counted. One buck wasn't recovered until later in the season and the other was a doe that never got entered. We could have widened our gap even more!
I have found November 9-12th to be the days with the best rutting action around where I hunt. Which presents an interesting scenario for me this year. I drew a three day limited entry gun permit for that weekend. First time I considered picking up a rifle in 10 years. But, last year was the first time in 10 years I didn't get at least one deer with my bow. With three boys to feed now, my wife is pushing me to bring home more meat. Next Saturday I am going to an orientation to participate in my first urban hunt. Unlimited tags, and they do not count against the rest of my state-wide limit. Really hoping I feel the freezer a few times before the rifle hunt so I can skip it and stick with the bow during the rut without my wife getting frustrated with me. Urban hunt opens September 1st, regular archery September 28th. Countdown clock is ticking.
I get that a lot of teams left points off the board, but it's especially hard to take when you actually see the kills broadcast and you're like... Uhhh, bro- you gonna post pics? No?
