I'm gonna be the guy who does the inaugural post.

BHOD should sell mandatory tapes to be used, include a window sticker and they would sell like hotcakes.

Integrity- scoring the deer the right way even when no one can prove you didn't.

Honestly, I have said for a long time it is almost always one of two things: pride rounding numbers up or honest to God mistakes. It happens every year in the contest, on forums or at the local bow shops...

...funny story actually happened last year at a bow shop guy claimed he'd killed a 130 or better for 10 straight years. He whipped out pictures and showed me them...we'd had some awesome conversations and no one besides the owner was present and I said "(insert name) if you let me score the best 3 and any of them actually gross over 130 I'll buy you a pack of brand new broadheads of your choice"

Needless to say, I never bought him any Rage broadheads and he was an awesome pupil in scoring. He actually went on and now is an official scorer. Some of the honest mistakes he was making was not realizing where you start the tine measurements, not using the narrowest spot for H measurements and honestly taking mass measurements in general, not slowing down enough and not properly measuring inside spreads.

Pride though wasn't his issue...those that suffer from that think the number on the scorecard impacts their manhood in some capacity. Those guys will never let you put tape to their deer...

My friends and family always use a second set of eyes rule. Score doesn't matter but we won't give each other even 1/8 that isn't verified.
Another big culprit is where to begin the tape on tines. Painters tape to create a line eliminates doubt.

Here's one for ya, just recovered in the Live From the Stand Thread.

How many abnormal points in the pic?

Ok, so here's where I was going with above post.

Gross score would change slightly but Net score would have significant impact.

Can't see right side G2/G3 or main beam clearly.

So there's two abnormals as a typical 8/10. Split brow type tine on left and a sticker on right side between G1 and G2.

But, on the left side. Do you have a G2 and G3 or a split G2?

    You talking to me?

It's a serious question. This buck hasn't been scored yet and gross score would only be impacted slightly. Was recovered less than 3 hours ago.

I like scoring bucks on picturea and seeing how close I am to actual score.

    No more, no less.

I seen the way the main beam looks, and then how the G's look to line out.

As a G2 and G3 , you get less on tine but more on mass. As a split G2, you get less on mass and a potential deduction on net score.

Scoring was brought up, I was testing myself on scoring by pictures. Not calling anyone out or questioning a score. Merely asking how would xxxx treat this while scoring.

Nope! The offending parties are blaming us because they didn't follow the rules.

Gotcha, I haven't critiqued the score thread or any of the following posts commenting on it.

I haven’t done any scoring myself, but from what I have read and learned on this forum it would be yellow.
