    To be honest a good coach of a team will be active with team and most likely know when a dude harvests a deer...and report it if someone isn't honest. Now if someone purposely is mute about it on purpose for the contest they transition from a sandbagger to total *********.

    @Brad Kaufmann

    Don't forget the alternates sign up, some of us will need another entry to bring us up to 12.

    Thanks!

    I don't think that's true- I was captain of a team where 2 members shot deer on video and put said kills on episodes of a popular webcast and didn't bother to submit their scores at all...Now THAT's the ultimate in sandbaggery!

    Wait so they just never entered them and didn't enter any others? That isn't what I meant, I mean if someone purposely doesn't report true first buck, "just in case" they get something bigger.

    yes, that's what happened. But I was being facetious in calling it sandbagging.

    Since you can bow hunt your gun tag on private property in Illinois, does a bow kill with gun tag count? Clarifying incase I submit my first buck or doe during gun season.

    Legal kill with a bow...I don't see why it wouldn't.

    I asked Brad and he said nust to PM him the info. I'm sure he's got it, might not have time to update or wasn't reply worthy?

    Did you request team name to be addes to thread title? Not sure that he does it automatically.

    So if I shoot a fergie buck first, does that count as a buck or the 50 point antlerless deer? I am participating in a population control urban hunt. We are supposed to kill anything that does not still have spots.

    Each participant is allowed to enter ONE antlered deer as their “Buck Score”. This must be the FIRST antlered deer that you harvest during the season.

    I get that. Not sure why that should apply to fergie bucks given the max point possibility being the same as a doe. Rule makes sense when you are talking about any buck whose antler score would add up to better than 50 points.

    Just my 2 cents, but not everyone would have the opportunity to hunt a fergie buck for their season. That would allow a slight advantage in this instance for those that get that chance.
    I see what your getting at cantexian and again that’s just my opinion.

    I have done the contest several years and have always found this needed more clarification. Normally, I wouldn't consider shooting a "Fergie Buck." However, with my first time participating the urban population control hunt, I do not want fail to meet the requirements of that hunt, but, I also do not want to screw my team in the contest, if the first deer I have in range is a Fergie. A bit of an unusual Catch 22 if it happens.
