Those are some awesome bucks! Any regular pattern to them? Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
None whatsoever! lol It's motivating though just knowing they are in there. I think I've finally come to terms with the reason for me always having a rough go, no matter where I hunt. Illinois, or even here on public land. I know I'm hunting in the right spots. the reason, I have ADHD. I found out three years ago. I noticed quite a few times over the years that I am very fidgety. No matter how hard I try to focus and sit still, I can't, at least not for longer then ten minutes. I cannot take meds for it, due to being a neurological and cardiological risk. I know this has gotten me busted more times then I'll ever know, especially in a tree in my climber! I'm pretty sure I once again got busted today by a buck who saw my head moving, or me re-adjusting to get comfortable. As much as I love the ghille suit, and being immersed in the woods, I need to be concealed to hide my inevitable movement. I'm switching to a ground blind. I ordered two today. I'm looking at it positively that it will make me a better hunter.
I assume this is the new spot you were excited about? Dude that's awesome! Second buck is a beast for sure and I hope you get on him. That's gotta be some motivation. Sent from my SM-G960U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
I'm pretty sure the first two are different bucks. The third one is a beast for this area! This is actually a spot I walk near to get to the new spot I was excited about. It's a small clearing with a funnel coming out of the swampy area. I think I need to spend some time there!
Sweet! Looking forward to following you along the live from the stand thread as usual. On a side note that 3rd buck was lined up perfect. Sent from my SM-G960U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Almost didn't post it but had to. Lmao. Hey man I ate tag soup last year and can tell you I'd have loved to have shot one and recovered it. No matter where I hit it. Best of luck to ya! Kill! Sent from my SM-G960U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
My high school were the Wolverines because of this movie. Lol. The students voted before they merged two other schools into one circa '92. One of my all time favorites too. The Swayze snot bubble scene is the best! And Powers Boothe is awesome too. Sent from my SM-G960U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Maybe you should bring a fidget spinner? In all seriousness I am glad you are trying to work around how you operate, rather then force yourself to do certain things that only hurt your hunting opportunities. Hopefully the ground blind does the trick, and I’m hoping you get a shot at the big one! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I'm gonna be up and running on like 4 to 5 new public spots. If I dont kill a deer.....oh well. I'm gonna give it hell. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Went to what looks like a great land locked piece of public today. Talked to the landowner of a surrounding private piece. Maybe a 60 yr old guy who just lost his dad. Told him I'd never hunt on his property. Just need it for access of about 90 acres of swamplands. All he wanted to do was talk...and I listened for about an hour. Country boy from the backwoods of Virginia. Real good guy who seemed to miss his dad. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Did a very fast scout of a small section of public land Saturday morning. Didn’t get too deep in the woods because it was an unplanned stop while on a date with my wife. But I did confirm that a river has an easy crossing and that it also has a good spot I can take my kids fishing. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Well we survived opening weekend of WI archery season on public land. Nobody told us that the World Small Caliber Rifle Rapid Fire Championships, also known as squirrel hunting, was going on at the same time. It sounded like World War 3 up there. We did get to experience all of the fun trials and tribulations of public land hunting including but not limited to: Deer hunters setting up stands within 50 yards of you right after daybreak Deer hunters using both grunt calls and can calls on opening morning Deer hunters meandering around the woods aimlessly with crossbows at the ready Squirrel hunters shooting hundreds of rounds of small caliber rifle fire into the trees in all directions Deer hunters walking right under your stand an hour before dark on the way to their spot Overall we had a blast and met some nice people, but hunting conditions were miserable and the pressure was intense. I'm definitely going back but I'll bide my time until the temps are a little better and I can sneak out during a weekday when there's less people. It was pretty intense to say the least.
