I'll be on the public land in metro MN. Still trying to gain some private access just to mix things up, but I've been hunting public every year since I've lived here.
If anyone gets a chance, listen to one of Dan Johnson's latest Nine Finger Chronicles podcast with Josh Profitt. It's all about public land hunting tactics. Josh hunts only public in Kentucky and Indiana. He has great success year after year and only gets to hunt about 15-20 days from October to November. Tons of great info and insights.
I hunt the public ground around lake Shelbyville in IL. Have a boat now and am looking foreword to accessing some areas by boat this year as I have found that the hardest part about the public ground is the way you walk in/out. Had encounters with 2 nice bucks last year and hope they are still around. Cameras are out so just have to wait and see. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yeah I was just gonna say, once you stop seeing cans of bud light and Yuengling on the ground you know you are good haha!
Looks like I may be on public this year. Very good possibility I lost access to the private I have been hunting. Still up in the air! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Public land in MN near the twin cities metro area. Last year was my first time hunting public and first time bowhubting in 10 years and I had decent luck. Hopefully that luck sticks around Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums

Public land in Massachusetts here. I've been doing a fair amout of scouting and have found really good sign so hopefully all of that pays off. I try to hang and hunt mostly espescially once the orange army hits the woods. I have one solid pinch point that I cant wait to hunt where some thick bigger woods taper down ending at a big cranberry bog. On one side is a river and houses and the other side has a housing development. Actually secured permission to access that spot via private land that abutts it. That area comes down into a swamp and is loaded with oaks on the edges so here's hoping! Also have a few WMA's that look promising and actually the Department of Conservation, I believe, just purchased some land across the street from my house as well! Good luck this year guys!
I haven't hung cameras this year. I did last year, but didn't retrieve it until the end of the year. I like the element of surprise, like back in the day. Hi Masshole!!! Where in MA are you hunting? I grew up in Sturbridge, live in RI now.
Your last years public land hunt was my favorite all time bhod video. Awesome! Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Justin, I loved the episode you did when you scored on that beautiful buck on public land!! Really nice job, enjoyed it a lot.
Good to see other people from up this way on here! I live and hunt south east Massachusetts, Zone 11. Its tough but there are deer here!
Nice, you guys have the extended season right? Adam Matthews Z7 Magnum 29/70 Gold Tip Hunter XT 100g Slick Trick Standard
Yes, it's Special Regs, which is awesome. The first season is from Sept 15th - Nov 24th. You can actually hunt the ENTIRE rut!
Here, here....I'll be romping through a number of different public lands here in the KY as always. Got all my cam's out collecting intel as we speak.
Zone 11 has some good hot spots! I used to do overnight deliveries, and saw quite a few monsters in zone 11!! There's another guy on here from the Taunton area.
I might just have to look into that area!!! Adam Matthews Z7 Magnum 29/70 Gold Tip Hunter XT 100g Slick Trick Standard
