Checked cameras yesterday and it looks like last years #1 went down hill big time. I put him at 4 last year, making him 5 this year. I don't know if he's injured or sick but last year he was mid 150's, this year he will most like miss the 130 mark. Nonetheless he's still #1 and I would be thrilled to put my tag on him.

That sucks, just as he's entering his prime age.

I will be working ground this week and planting by the weekend. I am planting 2 acres of Whitetail Institute Tall Tine Tubers and about 1.75 of Imperial clover with Beets and Greens in the center. This rain is very very welcome.

Went out to check a few cameras today and stumbled on a fresh shed from this year off a buck I know pretty well. The side I found sits really weird on his head and faces pretty much backwards.

Not yet, the neighbors have about 300 acres of soybeans this summer so my deer pictures in that spot have been pitiful.

Bucks are looking good in my area now! Evening scouts have produced some dandies. Sorry for the low-quality pictures but low light can make it difficult.

wow CML... where in NY are you? County / zone?
I have only seen groups of bucks like that out in the Cayuga area in my travels.. 7H.
I've shot a few nice ones out that way.

I’m in Genesee and Erie counties. I hunt 8G and 9F. Last night I saw a bachelor group of 19 bucks. It was unbelievable, and the sad thing is not a single buck over 120 in the mix.

that's crazy. Shooting a 120 in the areas I hunt in Eastern NY and Western MA is a rarity... 100" bucks are big for my areas.

But don't get me wrong.. there are big boys here. I get them on cam every year... it's just a matter of catching up to them.
