Anyone be able to suggest a rod/spinning reel combo for the average guy? I've got a special pole I use specifically for walleyes but not one I can fish bass/northern/or even panfish. Maybe a recommendation on a panfish and bass/northern combo? Avid ice fisherman and looking to get into summer fishing more.
Check out a nice g loomis 6' and a Shimano Stella reel, will work great all around rod might even replace the walleye rod.
Not sure how much you want to spend but Basspro has the Revo X spin combo that is pretty good setup for northern waters. I currently use a Daiwa Tatula with G Loomis Bronzeback rod for drop shots and some plastics.
In that price range I'd head to your local Bass Pro or Cabelas and just sort through what feels good to you. Any 7' medium/fast action will work for your intended purpose. One additional thought......you can get some OK stuff in the $100 price range, but if you can get into the $200-$300 price range you're going to find a completely different class of setup. The quality, weight difference, and sensitivity jump between those two price points is going to be substantial, and the difference between what will likely be a lifetime purchase and/or one that you may find your not happy with in a couple years if you get serious about it. If you can get into that $200 price range for a combo, I'd highly recommend you looking at St. Croix Triumph or TFO Gary Loomis rods, and Shimano's new Nasci reel. If you can get into the $300 price range for a combo I'd be looking at a Shimano Curado spinning rod, and a Shimano Ultegra reel. Hope this helps!
I took my boys to the local Game and Fish stocked pond Saturday morning for catfish. We got skunked. I can’t figure out how to catch southern fish. The picture is from back in January when it was cold enough to stock trout. I know what I am doing when ut comes to trout. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Anyone out chasing spring walleye? Was jiggin early season and caught a few limits. looking to transition into trolling and hopefully doing a little more casting for them.
My dad lived and fished on the lake for 41 years. He started seeing signs of carp A few years ago. He Finally decided to try to catch one..... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Will be heading to Leech Lake this weekend in search of walleye. They did well last weekend and I'm expecting the same this weekend. Water temps here are still very cold and the fish are still shallow.
Rod holder/shed holder and my sweet $100 boat I scored, even came with a couple catfish set ups. Costed me more to register it than what I paid for the boat
This was in 2015 my biggest bass to date. The second picture is me, the bass, and my daughter at 5 months.
