I planned on buying lots of stuff to better my property and building a few permanent blinds to get young and older family out for gun but we have been getting slammed with $hitty news of late. My oldest who had plans of planning D1 volleyball in 2020 is heading to Neurosurgeon for a small fracture in her L5. So we are unsure if she will get cleared. If she doesn't she will be hunting with me alot. I love the idea but that means she needs a new bow. I planned on giving her mine and upgrading and all was well....then the other shoe fell.... my brother in law ( oddly enough the only one i like ) asks me to teach him to bow hunt and a few weeks later gets diagnosed with leukemia....wtf right? F$#@!ng guy has 2 boys under 4 and is in his mid 30s. First round of treatment is done. I told him if he is ready by Oct. I'll buy him camo and my bow is his, all I have is his in fact. So I'll be pinching pennies to get a new bow as mine is spoken for twice over lol.
Moral of the story kids....hug your loved ones tonight. Never know what tomorrow will bring.

I have thought many times of doing this but just never have followed through.

I lost some good hunting grounds that I was able to hunt for 20 years. The past 3 years have really been terrible for successful hunting. The grounds I hunt now have too much stupidity going on that deer pass through instead of holding.
Been told sorry lately on my knocking on doors.
We moved to this area about 5 years ago and you have to know someone to gain permission these days. I can’t bring myself to the leasing agencies so it’s dying a slow death for me. But I will never give up!

I probably send 100 letters for every "yes" I receive. But that's only like $50 for stamps and materials. I also enjoy getting handwritten letters back from the 90 year old ladies, even if they aren't letting me hunt their farm.

My season is pretty much over. With teaching starting Monday and reffing basketball every night I won’t be able to get out much if at all until the 20th when Illinois archery ends.

I didn't see squat this morning. Jumped one on the way in that was bedded right next to the blind. Neighbors started blasting em 20 mins before legal light. I'll be back out next weekend...

My season is over. Getting ready to sell my Prime Centergy so I can pick up one of the new Matthews bows. Still haven't decided if it will be the Veritx or the Traverse. I have also been picking up a few ladder stands as I see them come on clearance at a few local stores. I need to replace a few we lost when we stopped letting one of the guys hunt our Indiana property. My big projects this spring and summer will be to clean up some of the ash tree dead fall that is preventing deer from using a few main travel routes. Actually I also need to fall a few more dead ash trees so the sun can hit the forest floor. And always prep foods plots for planting in early August.

Wishing the best for you and your family, Fix! I didn't see much for deer this weekend when I was out on walks with the dog. Did manage to pick up one 4 point side from last year though. Although I saw it first, the dog ran over and picked it up from about 10 feet away and brought it to me excited as can be so I was more than happy to see that.

I’m sitting here at work. That feels weird to say. Start my first teaching job today. This is weird. Get me back out in the woods where I belong!

Any of you guys do much turkey hunting? We have decent numbers here in NY and I have always filled my two tags. The last couple years I have been working at killing one with my bow to no avail. My run and gun way of hunting birds isn't real conducive to using blinds and archery equipment. Hopefully this is the year.
