I have always been a shoulder mount fan I feel though something on a stand like that needs some sort of background to it! it is amazing taxidermy work though!

I need to double check now, but I think it just sits flat against the wall. I was assuming that was his work stand.

I’m a huge fan of pedestal mounts if they have some character to the pedestal. Shoulder mounts in general are awesome and I really like that mold on your buck.

I like that form alot airenlow! Last night my dad shot a buck, unsure of where he hit him (I don't know how). At dark I started up on the blood trail with him just to see whether we were waiting 2 hours or 10 hours. Well it was about the most blood I have ever seen coming out of a deer, with real big frothy bubble piles where he would stop. I was 200% convinced that he had at least 1 lung and a major artery of some sort. 80 yards down the trail we find him, and he hit him directly in the hind quarter and that femoral artery. Absolutely terrible shot, but man was it deadly to that deer, and a good chunk of that hind quarter.

IMG_1505.jpg Was also able to slip in and check a camera at dark last night because I had a feeling they'd be running yesterday. I had bucks travelling through at 9:27, 10:43, 10:58, 12:01: and 1:33. 5 bucks past the same scrape. Good luck to those still chasing their buck!

I’ve seen that shot unfortunately made and it’s a crazy blood trail and that deer is dead crazy fast! Got a pic?

No pictures of the blood trail, unfortunately. But here is the buck. Quality Deer Management is unheard of for this guy, but that's the privilege you get for being the landowner. I remembered to tuck in the tongue for the pictures but happened to miss that his manhood was on display. Whoops. IMG_1509.jpg

I pulled my buck's leg back for pics to show off a little. I didn't score them though...

After doing a little bit of math I believe that we are just shy of 800 points total (if I'm not missing any deer). I am really hoping to be able to add 50 in the late season or even by the end of archery, Nov 16. This is by far the best contest team I have been on.

No kidding! I think we might have finished 3rd one season, but I dont remember the quality of bucks being this good.

I called a local P&Y scorer, but he won't even touch it until after the drying period. Guess I'll do it myself tonight...

Lunch break drive produced a gnarley old buck out at one of my spots just down the road. Feeding and harassing some does. Have never seen him before but he had to be one of the biggest bucks I've seen this season. Fix, it may be time to venture Southwest 25 minutes.

Well it was a disappointing morning for me. I had a 120s buck come in and I decided I was going to take him. Ended up center punching him. Tracked for over two hours only to lose blood. Came in ate some lunch grabbed a hot shower and headed back out to track. Found blood again then it trailed off to nothing.
The crazy thing is I have yet to find my arrow so I assume it's still in him. I am going to head back out to that area at dusk to see if I can see my green nocturnal.

This is probably going to be all she wrote for my huntcation. I will try to sneak out again after the IL gun season.

Stay after him! Did you find any beds? What kind of shot angle, penetration, what was the blood like?

Stay after him Henson! Half an arrow is a dead deer! How far back was the shot? Are you hunting in IL or IN right now?

I wouldn’t give up just yet. You might get lucky and find him especially if you can get a tracking dog out there!

I’m getting dressed and fixing to climb in a stand about 500yds east of where I sat when I shot that buck Tuesday morning. The big bodied 10 is hanging around still, got pics of him yesterday morning early so hoping this cold weather gets him on his feet early tonight!

Last blood was on the neighbor's and I don't believe he will give the ok to bring a dog in this time of year. At this point I am going to take my queues from the yotes and buzzards.
