My season starts Oct 1. I won’t be getting out until Oct 6, and will be taking out a young hunter for the youth weekend. I glassed one of my spots last night and had 3 beauties in the hayfield, since the beans are all yellow now. The following is the youth waterfowl weekend and I will be taking the same kid out again. So I am looking like only quick week night hunts until I get an open weekend. But I like taking youth hunters out way too much so I’m not worried about my lack of tree time.

In the meantime, I have been shooting honkers.

I went to buy my license and tags last night, but the old-timer couldn't figure out the DNR website. I tried a different place today and the manager says they can't sell licenses until the store has been open a year. I'm wondering if this is a sign...

I was trying to support local business. I ended up at the DNR office...got it straight from the source.

I didn't double check math, but everything looks pretty reasonable. He was a beast!

And I apologize...I guessed 2.5" too small. :whip:

He had a couple more points but one wasn't long enough and the other two were connected and we're wider than they were long so they wouldn't count. I was hoping he would make 150. Pretty pumped!

Congrats again Joe! Hell of a buck! Is that your biggest buck to date?

You better believe he is! Shot a 130inch 9 pointer a few years ago and about 125 inch 8 last year. Everything else has been in the 100-115 range.

That’s awesome man! I now exactly how you’re feeling right now! I killed by far my biggest buck and first bow buck 3 years ago that scored 154 7/8. Other than that one I had killed a couple of 120-130 class 8 pointers and a few smaller ones. I haven’t killed a buck since 2015. I’ve had plenty of chances at decent bucks but now my expectations are higher...often times probably to high!

Joe he is an absolute tank! Congrats again. My largest buck is 131” 8 point which came in 2012 on Halloween. Have had plenty of opportunities to top that but I’ve been a master choke artist as of recent. This year is the year!

Same boat here. I shot my 128.5" in 2015 and haven't found the right buck since. Bigger or older...I'm not asking for much!

Hey man, I’m right there with ya! I missed a 17 yd chip shot on a nice 10 pt last season. I was so mad at myself at the time but the great news is that same buck is back and showing up on my cameras and he is a stud now. I’ll try and post a couple of pics.
