Happens to everyone brother. Shake it off, every trip into the woods is a learning experience! Hopefully you got the artery and he’s a dead deer

I'm sorry I have terrible service and it keeps uploading my Vida multiple times. I delete the extras when I get home.

Clearly, Joe dropped his phone in the pond while retrieving that monster buck...

He got him. I’ll go ahead and spoil it! But I’ll let him post the pics! He’s a dandy.

This was a Rollercoaster fellas. Crazy hunt last night. Saw a bunch of coyotes, missed one. Had 4 does go out to the bean field. I was set up south of the bean field with my scent pushing out Into to the field. The closer to dark it was getting the closer the does were coming to me which made me think that they were going to wind me any moment. Next thing I hear is something smashing the branches on the hedge apple trees right in front and to the left of me/ same direction as the field which shields me from anything in the field directly north of me. I think hey there must be two squirrels fighting or running up and down this tree but not... All the hedge apples are falling off the tree. I look down right below me is this buck raking this tree, making the apples fall and then eating them. He does this till last light then steps in the open and gave me a 20-25 yard shot. It wasn't hind quarters, it was gut in gut out. Guts plugged the holes no blood trail. Went out at 3 am couldn't find him. Went back in at first light, checked the water sources on the property and fou d him in the pond. Crazy that buck came in down wind of me and didn't spook and no I don't use ozonics lol.

What a wild hunt my man. I’ve had a couple of those hunts where there’s no way the deer should’ve come in as close as they did but mine didn’t end with a buck on the ground like yours. Once again congrats and way to be smart and check the water sources first
