I snuck out in the pouring rain to fill a scent dripper and check a camera. 7 new bucks on cam this week, including this sweet 9/10 point. A local doe must have started to cycle on the 23rd because bucks were running all over in daylight.

He's carrying a bush in the first pic making it hard to see brows, but I'm thinking pic 2 is the same deer.

Saw three young bucks and two does. After that either the wind shifted or my scent settled and I got busted about five times. I'm done hunting on the ground fellas. The last three times I've been out I've been on the ground and I can't even count how many times I've been busted. I washed and rewashed clothes and used an ozone generator thingy too. It doesn't matter. I haven't been busted even once in a tree so I'm done with ground hunting because it just ain't working.

So boys, heading out. Wind is 25 mph with gusts much higher. I know where I wanna sit but in this wind it's going to be a carnival ride. I have gone as far as putting a buddy of mine on alert and if he doesn't hear from me once a hr he is to try me then come looking for me. The stand I'm heading to is 26 to the base and the tree is a shaker.

When the game is on the line, a leader wants the ball.

Young bull walked East of me around 80 yards... I swear I'll get him this year... To many mistakes already from him. That was at 430 too! Don't care what I see now... I'm planning my next chess move with him

I think today was my first skunk of the season. The 40mph wind had em hunkered down.

I can't get the video to load, but this is always fun while checking cams...

Finally made it out boys! Sitting in a ground blind, wind isn’t perfect but it should be a good sit. Big cold front moving in tonight so they should be on their feet. Man it feels great to be out!

    Good luck guys!

1 buck at 30 and 3 yotes. Couldn’t shoot the yotes because I couldn’t see my pin.

As I was walking through the bean field headed out tonight I spotted a deer standing right where I was headed about 200 yards away. I just stopped and watched hoping it would just walk away without spooking. This deer ended up walking 20 yards away from me and being a young buck 1.5 yr old. He pinned his ears back and puffed up a little bit at 20 yards and it made me a tad bit nervous!
