I had a fork walk by and then heard some sparring gut a few minutes. Saw the fork pop out again bug gig spooked by something Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ok advice time. Walking out I found that, that buck 8 small scrapes on the path which is like a L with my stand in the corner of it. I feel dumb not knowing the but that's what the forum if for so.... Will she rehit those or is it more communal scrapes
Hard to say but I’d almost say communal being that many of them. Typically I’ve seen bucks hit one scrape in an area more frequently than a bunch of them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Just sent a message to the recent buck posted. Didn’t have his bow in the pictures Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You know Fix I’ve watched scrapes pop up and die off more times than none with no more than a print in them. Then you can find a scrape that is tore up which usually leads to a well worn path. When the time is right these are the ones to get excited about. The problem is when you find a good one you’re usually leaving behind your scent no matter how good your boots work unless you scouting in a good rain. I hope more give their thoughts because I like hearing everyone’s opinion.
I think you pretty much hit the nail on the head here. Scrapes are everywhere and made by who knows what. Many are left to dry up and the ones that are huge are off main trails headed to or from bedding areas that get checked often by many deer Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
This is right outside of a bedding area. There's no doubt that they where made last night. Heading out of the dense to the food feilds. Wondering if I should sit there tonight. I don't hunt scrapes or even get excited about them as they are usually worked at night around me.
Only way to get the best answer is to be there and see for yourself. I’ll be out there with you tonight so good luck! Your shooting that wide buck right?!!!!
I think I’m going to skip the hunt tonight and go shoot some ducks. There’s a lot of corn where I’m at right now and I’ll see how it goes for tomorrow morning with an East wind. Might try a new stand tomorrow morning Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I am all settled in for the afternoon. I have a cut corn field to my left. A cut bean field right in front of me and the big field over to my right is still standing corn. Also have a grass field directly behind me. Sent from my SM-G960U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
I’ll count that as my second dislike ever, I’m honored! East wind tomorrow I’ll be back in there after those boys Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Shoot them green heads Benny! Hopefully a pass through acorn spot will provide me a pass thru! Got in late good luck fellers!
I'll be at it again hard this weekend! hopefully they'll be moving a little later in the morning and I can get an arrow in one! the landowner has had the deer moving out of the valley where I hunt past his house in the morning and back into the valley in the evening so fingers crossed!
i only look at scrapes a couple of ways. take it for what it worth. 1) scrape must have a giant track in it. if there are a bunch of small tracks i don't get to excited. 2) scrapes must be at least the size of a basketball backboard. this scrape must be dug to the subsoil or roots. this to me represents a particular bucks primary scrape. this scrape usually carries a large licking branch. find these signs and it's game over for the deer. any scrapes smaller than a basketball backboard are usually boundary scrapes. don't waste your time with small scrapes find the mother load!
oops! i forgot to mention to hunt about 15 to 20 yds down wind of the scrape because he will scent check the scrape before approaching it.
