One farm I hunt the beans will be out in a couple weeks and the other will be late October I’m thinking. The farm where the beans will be later is insane hunting when it’s in Beans I’m pretty excited. I usually see mature bucks on their feet early season if there’s beans.

I have been using Havalon for a few years now. I absolutely love them! I can usually field dress a deer and skin the entire thing with one blade.

The last couple years I’ve just used a butcher since I didn’t have the time to do it myself. I’m not sure I can afford that this year with a house payment. Any good reasonably priced equipment I should consider?

All you need is a good sharp knife Capt.
Go slow and segment it as best you can. Only thing you might want is a grinder but only if you like ground for tacos ... I ground up about 100lbs a year for the family for sketti, tacos, burgers, anything really.

I do like some ground for stuff like that. I’ve butchered deer before but didn’t know if you like to stuff sausages or anything like that.

I have all the stuff, I don't do sausage but I make small snack sticks with the can press. If you buy anything processing go LEM. I usually run two dehydrators on my first doe. The kids crush jerky

I typically just cut my own steaks roasts and then debone the rest to take to a processor where I have brats, summer sausage, and burger made. Just doing this saves me about $90 a deer.

I suppose that’s on option for me as well. Last year with all of the sh*t I got made it was $475...

I usually try to harvest two deer a year so it saves me $180. I usually have all sorts of stuff made so the cost can add up pretty quick and saving that processing fee helps lessen the burden to my wallet. I suppose I could invest in a grinder and a sausage stuffer but honestly not only am I just to damn busy for that but I am also just to lazy to put that kind of effort into it. I know I could never get my own brats and snack sticks to taste anywhere near as good as what my local processor can do.

That’s kind of how I feel. If I can save someone money I will but I can’t do what they do without commercial equipment.

I’ve got a problem with my inserts coming out of my arrows when I pull them out of my target. Anybody got a suggestion on how to prevent that??

When I had problems with my new arrows I determined the case I stored them in was so air tight the epoxy didn’t set. So I pulled them out by the field point and re-set them. Sounds like you got some bad epoxy. Or there was just enough travel from hitting a target they broke free.
I haven’t had any issues after redoing mine. I cleaned the shaft with alcohol real good. Will they pull out?

I tried real hard to pull them out and I couldn’t pull them out by hand so I figured I had them all in there real good.

Well Benny that’s no good. Only other thing I can think of would be trying a hair dryer to see if the heat would allow them to come out.

    Good luck

My shop uses 2 kinds of insert glue, 1 is blue and solid but made to be able to adjust. The other kind is like crete. I hope you figure it out Capt.
