been seeing a number of birds by you? going to west central MN thursday night to get out friday before the pheasant opener
Honestly no I haven't lately but with the crap weather I haven't been outside nearly as much as normal. Going to scout a little bit tonight after work just to get an idea of what's around. Did see a little flooded corn yesterday with about a dozen greenheads in it. That was nice to see.
Flooded CRP I've been watching since August was absolutely LOADED tonight. Never seen so many greenheads in one spot in MN. Rarely see any pintails and there was about 50 in there. My co worker farms everything around it and has sole permission for it. He's the guy I've taken out the last few years since he doesn't have alot of time or any gear to hunt waterfowl. Need to get there in the morning when it's still dark and see if it's being used as a roost or not. That'll dictate if we hunt it or not. My brother in law has a quarter in the section north of it that I might set up in this weekend and try to decoy some birds flying between the CRP and nearest creek. Could be awesome and will be a show none the less. Here's to hoping I get the chance to hunt this weekend now! Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
very interesting, i hope to get out of work early enough tomorrow so i can get some good scouting in but i'll be scouting roosted birds, ideally a flooded field would be glorious to get onto
It was opening day here in MI. Hunted the new lease for the first time. Worked a few big groups of mallards and lots of woodies around, only had two guys though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Never did hunt that section with the flooded CRP. Couple other groups did and did ok. Hunted this morning and had probably my most memorable duck hunt in my career so far. High school buddy was home this morning so I scouted last night and found a flooded corn field. We landed probably 50 different birds that we passed, shot every duck cupped at 10 yards and had an absolute blast; all in a minor blizzard. Most of the morning we couldn't see more than 40 yards. It was a weird hunt because we had to move the decoys 5 different times because the water kept receding into the tile. Started the morning with the teal and then got picky from there on out, targeting mallards. Ended with a nice mixed bag of mallards, widgeon, pintail and teal. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Slow start this morning but the action picked up as the day went on. Ended with 2 mallards, 2 pintail, 1 wigeon. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hunted with my dad this AM, one shy of our two man mallard limit and a wigeon. Singles decoyed all morning, really fun hunt.
I wasn't actively looking but found a hell of a deal yesterday. $140! Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Went out with a buddy this morning and we did decent. First gadwall of the year was a nice one! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Man rafia is a lot of work. Pretty excited for this little set up though. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
No only the first one on opening day was! The others are from a public refuge. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Just a little 2 seater my father had bought at bass pro a few years back. Wanted something small for a little marsh near me Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
Gotcha. I have something similar. It’s a 10ft pelican bass boat. Thought about getting a outboard like you have. But the 55# trolling motor works well for now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
