Not sure I will be going back to Lake of the woods this year or any time soon. It was such a fun trip and we caught easily over 200 fish between our 3 houses, but 90% of the fish were dinks. So so so many 10” or smaller sauger. It gets sickening taking those fish off your hook and losing your bait every 10 minutes. I didn’t get any pics but there was a doozy of a blizzard that hit us. 8-10” of snow and 40mph wind gusts. We had 4 foot snow drifts around our houses and trucks. Luckily we had a side by side with chains otherwise we wouldn’t have been able to get out. We enjoyed fish tacos and a fish fry for 10 guys 2 nights. All in all it was a great trip, but I’d rather go either later in the year or just go to Red or Mille lacs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I've only ever gone in end of February/March and it's always been great. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
I went last year early March and had same experience except for 4 guys we only caught around 20 small walleyes all weekend. Sometimes that’s just the way it goes but you expect better when traveling so far and hearing about all the great fishing it usually is. I’ve had the same experience where Red’s has been better and every year we pass it on the way to LOTW and I’m thinking we could save a lot of time by just fishing Red. I’ll be up on LOTW in a few weeks will let you know how we do.
Looked at Bite Me Box and then went from there on my own. Came out good! Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Got out this morning for a couple hours with the fiancé. Was able to help her get her first tip up fish. We had a bunch of flags but only brought 2 top side. That’s alright though. She had a blast and wants to go again soon. So that’s all that matters. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Mille lacs has been on fire the last few weeks. Caught easily over 100 fish the last 2 weeks. Been out about 6 times. Picking random spots using Navionics. Seems like you can catch them anywhere you want. Here are a couple. Last one is the fattest slot fish (22” I have ever seen). Put down 4 rattle reels at night and you will not sleep more than an hour without being woken up. I love that lake even though you can only keep 1 walleye, and it has to be between 21-23”. Not many places you can go and catch as many quality fish as Mille Lacs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I’m 30 min from Mille lacs but all that work for just one fish? Uff da. I think I’ll try knife lake first Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I’m not out there to catch a meal. I’m out there just cause I like being out there. Fish are a bonus. Hoping for that wall mounted essentially. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
-15 degrees didn’t help the bite at all yesterday. Caught 5 overnight on rattle reels before the holes froze up on us. 25” was the biggest. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Just got home this morning from fishing the Mississippi backwaters for a couple days. The first day our group went fishless. We had a cold snap and it was -11 out with 20mph winds. It was rough for sure. We went to a little different spot yesterday and we finally caught some nice bass and smaller pike. Had to head back this morning instead of fish because of the snow storm hitting us. Still a fun trip to take just sucks when the weather doesn’t cooperate.
"100% this. We are all salaried employees... But said employee is clearly taking advantage of our flexible schedules (management does not monitor when we get here/leave). Takes everything in me not to say something." Sorry, I had to! Nice fish!
Ha. I’ve got all my clients needs done for the month (we work month to month for fuel/mileage taxes). Bring the work laptop with and just answer emails is all I need to do until the end of the month. I’m “working” my regular shift but just in the fish house! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
We got a double tag! First fish I’ve ever got that was tagged and it was a double. Also got another good one Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
