Well, my season ended before it even started. I was set to pay for my lease, when BAM, goes my motor. well at 1st diagnostic I was told my motor is shot. I was taking the kids to Fright Fest Six Flags last Friday, when all of a sudden my Tahoe starts missing. No biggy I thought. I just replaced the spark plugs and cables this summer and was told my PCV system may need replaced if I start loosing plugs again. So the following day I take it to O'Riellys to get the code. P301. Cylinder 1 mis fire. Simple enough fix, and easy to reach plug. I got home and replaced the plug. motor is still sounding like crap and shaking. Next I order a PCV system (The Valve is built into the Valve cover) Still no help. I follow up by replacing the Cylinder 1 Ignition Coil. Again, no help. Lastly, I check the oil, and FML no oil on the dip stick. double FML. I put a quart in and run it up to Midas for an oil change. I previously had an appointment to get it change the very next day. 4,ooo miles. Well they went ahead and looked into the issue and told me it was the engine not the spark plugs. They topped the oil off and didn't charge me a thing. I like these guys a lot. I'm still hopeful its something with the fuel, but I'm having difficulty with finding a shop that will work on Hybrids and not rip me off. the ones that will work on it have bad reviews for missed diagnostics in the past. other won't provide me with a solid price for diagnostic. It's a 2009 Chevy Tahoe Hybrid 6.0L. It most likely with need a new motor, and those aren't cheap. lucky for me the guy I lease off of is a mechanic and has offered to do the work cheaper then most. I hope he will also allow me to continue to hunt the ground for free this year, but I know he's been looking for other to lease it. he needs the money to help out with bills, and I can't fault him on that. hell if I had land I would probably be looking to lease it as well to help pay for this monster est expense.

Any who, I just wanted to vent a little. I have other places to hunt but only this place has the potential for harvesting big bucks.

I cant see the motor blown and only a single misfire code. I am a full time certified technician at a busy collision repair facility and 90% of vehicles that come into our shop are a few quarts low on oil. I've seen those 6.0l,s run on barely any oil, they take a beating. lots of components can cause misfires, cam or crank sensor, coil packs, fuel filter, intake manifold gaskets etc etc. what other symptoms ? is the motor knocking ? does it miss all the time or only under load ie going up hill with the ac on or only at lower rpms ? oil pressure showing on the gauge ? being in the business over 20 years I can tell you diagnostics are a complete rip off. but we have thousands of dollars of tech equipment to pay for. you need to find a reputable educated shop that wont dilly dally and knows what they are looking for. pretty rare I spend or charge more than 1 hour diagnosing anything that isn't wiring related. places like midas or mavis or orielys have code readers and almost always lead people in the wrong direction really because they have no clue what they are doing. if you want to take a trip to NY id gladly help a fellow bowhunter out

well, it's not a constant miss. it sounds like a clunk, clunk, clunk then it will run normal for a sec and do it all over. Midas showed a Cylinder 5 and 7 missing. I replaced all the driver side spark plugs (The treads were coated in oil) and it ran like it should (Quite) for a couple of seconds then it started again. when the symptom started the Tahoe was smoking white smoke. However, since I've replaced that PCV system it hasn't smoked again. My buddy said the same thing you did and without a compression test no one can honestly say its the motor. I'm hoping like hell it is just something so simple.
