Why is it foolish? What's the difference between being in public and being in the privacy of your own home? The idea/main point is still true. The argument you're making is that not standing during the anthem is disrespectful... "If you're in public and you don't stand, you're disrespecting the military and our veterans. If you're in your house and you don't stand, you're not disrespecting the military and our veterans." Just so everyone knows - I do stand when I'm at a game and mean no disrespect to anyone.
No the argument I made was that when millions of people see their act as disrespectful, it is disrespectful whether that was their intent or not. Personally as I said, if somebody doesn't stand, or walks around during the anthem at a stadium or other public event I find it disrespectful. Not to me as a veteran, but disrespectful to the country as a whole. I've been at events where the Canadian anthem was played and I wouldn't think of sitting down or walking around during it either because I would think I was being disrespectful.
Understood. I'll be done with the issue. I understand both sides but do side with the ones in favor of standing, obviously.
I wonder if Trump's deal with all this stems from the USFL ordeal back in the day and team owners not wanting him to be an nfl owner. If someone can hold a childish grudge for 30 years its him. Why else bring it up out of the blue? He knew that by bringing it up that he would cause more players to take a knee and its almost as if he wanted it to happen. Wonder why?
The President also cant tell a private organization to fire an employee or to create a rule demanding they do something because of a political disagreement.
Possibly because it's been an ongoing, nagging PITA issue and it's time for it to come to a head one way or another. Hopefully, the NFL twats go broke and the entire sporting thug cult/mafia goes to hell and is forgotten. Professional sports is a pathetic means of wealth redistribution to modern day gladiators and a means for the mafia to pilfer the masses while they drink beer and tailgate their lives away.
That "private" organization has been tax payer supported for decades, immune from anti-trust law, rigging games and spending billions of tax payer money while being a sham. The league needs to support itself if it wants to be a "private" organization.
The Browns had it right, separate it from the anthem. Old Roger is getting around 40 mil a year to put out fires, do your job. If you think some Americans are lying about not spending money or time on the NFL with this stuff going on you're wrong. People are very pissed.
He's correct on this, take a look at how much public money goes into stadiums, while teachers get fired, city services get cut and schools closed, but hey here is a 260 million dollars for a stadium of the publics money.
Only those in attendance are required to stand. Like most things military there are standards and customs. Hearing it on tv or radio is not covered by those standards. Hence why alot of places say " all in attendance stand and face the flag." That's the difference and why there's no comparison. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
It just keeps getting better. "KDKA-TV reports Muse, Pennsylvania, fire chief Paul Smith wrote on Facebook that he had added Tomlin to a list of “no-good” people he described using the N-word, adding “yes I said it” to the post. My gosh
Possibly but that's a pretty hard argument to actually make and prove. Would the subsidy money be better spent going directly to the cities, would that money's ability to improve cities and infrastructure make the cities more attractive to other business', in turn making the city the same or better revenue? Impossible to prove one way or another. It's pretty arguable that all the revenues gained by municipalities through relation to the sports teams is money that would be spent anyway by consumers and taxpayers. Very arguable that it would be a wash at least.
I played college football with Mike for two years. He is one of the most genuine, caring, and inspiring people I have ever met. He had a wide variety of friends from all sorts of backgrounds in college. That fire chief should be relieved of duty.
