What does everyone have on the plate for the 2017 season? For me, my season started in May in Alaska stalking black bears with my bow. I ultimately helped my buddy pack out his rifle kill on the last day, a blast nonetheless! I'm hopefully going to make it to Kentucky for their archery opener for 3 or 4 days of public land hunting. When I get home, I have to work 7 straight days then I leave for Idaho for 2 weeks. I drew one of 25 archery bull elk tags for 2 units, so me and a buddy are heading west. He will have a bear tag in his pocket(he's using a bow this time!). With any luck, I'll kill a good bull and still have enough time to get to an OTC unit for him to hunt elk, and me mule deer. Once I get home, the Illinois deer opener is just a few days away, and I'll spend the next couple months trying to end my buck drought. It's all getting so close, I can't wait! Who are you doing your Bou trip with trial? We've been thinking about pulling the trigger on a Caribou/Moose fly in for a bit. Sent from my LGLS992 using Tapatalk
Going with JHA with two buddies, being flown into an unguided camp. We booked two years back and as luck would have it this is the last year they are doing hunts. I have a tag for a woodland caribou/ moose combo but that's for 2019. Hopefully the season stays open. Otherwise it will just be a moose hunt.
Going to South Shore of Maryland for the opener, try to catch a big one in it's summer feeding pattern. Hunt the first 3 weeks of October in Michigan and then off to Kentucky for a few weeks.
I set my school schedule this fall around the days I'd like to hunt!! Even though I won't be going anywhere for a few years, im so thankful to be able to get in the woods at all. I have two classes on Tuesday and Thursday, and two online classes to do my work whenever. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Lets see here, pretty busy schedule of hunting whitetail deer in my back yard. If I get real adventurous I may take a 4 mile trip down the road and hunt the local conservation area. My brother-in-law just closed on 20 acres so If I get lucky, he'll invite me to come check it out too. It's about 15 miles away from home so I may be able to give that a shot too.
Hunting IL primarily on a handful of different properties, as well as a late Oct and late Nov trip to Kansas.
Sounds a lot like my season. I have two IL spots both within 20 minutes of home that have some great deer on them this year. I'll be spending most of my time there. Plus a lease that's about 2 hours from home where I'll "escape" to for a couple hunts. And 2 trips to KS with Rick James where hopefully we don't get lost, get stuck in the mud or drown in a creek. Anything better than that I'm considering a success.
Oct 7th to first week of Jan. Hunt whitetail on the public land by me. I don't need much to be happy.
Home, away, home, away, home. NC Central whitetail opener, CO mule deer (or at least assist), back to home for more deer, western NC for bear/maybe deer, back home to finish out the season on whitetails.
