I'm looking forward to this season and this contest I will be hunting two states Kentucky my home state and got drew again for Kansas this is my fifth or sixth year for Kansas.
So.....I had the biggest buck I've ever seen this time of the year standing about 40 yards from the back of my house. Someone is gonna want me on their team I don't even hunt at home - but that thing was a monster! I tried getting pictures but failed through the window and almost dark sky.
This has got to be your year! You have definitely put in your time, and are long overdue, hope we are on the same team again! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I've learned a lot about other states hunting from the contests. Different regulations. Different rut times, etc. Something I would have never looked into. Given me a deeper appreciation for the hunting we are able to do at home. I still can't believe people can't hunt on Sunday. Looking forward to this year.
Was going to mention the sycamoretwitch track as well, and for the life of me cannot think of why everyone feels the need to remind us of the shower selfie, finally forget about it and bam, image retention burned in again
I would like to be apart of the contest this fall. How do I find more info on how to join/requirements. What are the rules or point systems, etc. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
My memory was of Fergus after he killed his first deer and helping him with it. That buck will forever be known as the fergie clause in this contest.
I'm newer to the forum. I would love to be a part this year. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
All I know is over the years some of the teammates I've had have become friends, some close others are what I like to call "social media friends". We stay in touch, message trail cam pics and are up to date on eachother's seasons. The contest has always been a great way to get to know some forum fellas in a different light.
Well I am giving it a whirl this year, completely out of character for me. I am trying to not be antisocial but the older I get the harder it gets.
Ive been in every contest except one where i was in school and have contributed maybe 400 points in that time. So looking forward to being dead weight on yet another team!
Its actually the only buck I have killed with a bow. I have been pretty picky when it comes to shooting bucks and only shoot mature bucks. If I want meat in the freezer then I'll shoot a doe. The buck was cruising through the bottoms in the middle of the afternoon during late October. I first spotted him about 70 yards out and grunted at him a few times to draw up the hill towards me. He slowly made his way up to me and didn't give me a shot until he was directly under my stand. When I shot my bow limb hit the front bar on my treestand resulting in a shot that hit back in the liver and guts. I watched him run down the hill and into a patch of brush. I was sick at seeing where my shot had hit but knew it would kill the deer. I text my brother and friend who I was hunting with and we all decided to wait till right before dark to look for him (about 2 1/2 hours). I sat in the stand and watched the brush where he went in the rest of the day and never saw him come out. So when the others showed up we decided to check in the brush there and if he wasn't there we would back out till later. I was elated when we walked into the brush he was laying there dead. It was a valuable lesson in letting deer go when you don't make a perfect shot. Normally on a shot back that far I would let the deer go longer but since I knew where he went and was able to watch for him to come out I was willing to look that far before losing all light.
Nice Deer man!!! Glad you found him. I only hope to be that successful some day. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
