    Hey guys,
I was limited on time on when I could hunt this year so I went with the shotgun instead of bow this year. Where I got this bird I have a killer spot that I'll be able to setup with a bow (no blind) for next year.

    Short story:

Well i went to my usual spot and setup on the edge of a cut corn field and waited with no gobbles at all during the morning. I sat for about an hour and got up to get my decoys and across the field (about 150 yards) I spot a gobbler walking the edge. He never saw me so I waited until he went back in the woods and I halled @ss down the field edge to get a closer setup. Sat for about 30 mins with little yelps here and their and nothing showed.

By now, its after 7am and I went back to my truck as I was going to go sneak into my other spot on the edge of a swamp that I got my last bird at 2 yrs ago. I drive down and around the corner and as i'm driving down the road I see a nice Tom 5 yards off the road standing their. I didnt stop the truck as i didnt want to spook him so i drove about a city block farther down the street and pulled over. Grabbed my gun and hauled @ss into the pines. (I figure i'm about 100-150- yards) from the bird and that I could call to him. I made it about 20 yards into the pins and he lets loose a nice gobble. I answered with a couple clucks with a yelp and he cuts me off. I got setup fast and we talked to each other for a bit before I decided to go silent and let him come as I've learned way to often that when they go quite, he is usually coming. Well I sat and waited...... and waited...... and nothing. So I got up and moved into the pines farther where it comes out to a corner and a nice funnel in the oaks and then he gobbles right back where I was. So now I know he is essentially following me. I got all setup with my decoy and sat on the edge and gave a couple calls to make sure he was still interested which he was. About 5 mins. later I hear him spittin/drumming and then I see him about 60 yards all fanned out. Well he came to about 25 yards and came right too me and then you know the ending. Cant wait to hunt this spot with a bow next year. Needless to say this was one of my most exciting turkey hunts.

    23 pounds and 10" beard.
