I'm out on trophy fees as well. I hunt private as well was public property, but not interested in outfitters trophy fees. Sent from my SM-N900V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
I'm just waiting to have a deer big enough to hunt again to try and get into the club for a 2nd time. I haven't had a 150+ on camera since 2012.
FOR this contest and informal clubs gross totals are used so for this discussion nets remain only good for fish and volleyball.
Take a hammer and break off the 9th point and BAM thing scores better....NEVER have made sense to me. NOT A NET FAN.
Amen....just finding a buck that will make 150" is much, much harder then figuring him out, setting up on him and killing him once found...they are quite rare in most parts of the country.
I have hunted ducks and bucks my entire life. And here in Ontario black bears, coyotes, wolves and moose as well. Never used a guide once. The only guided hunt I went on was a trip with some clients who were non residents. So in order to take them it had to be with a guide. It was frustrating knowing I kill a bear every single year since I was 18 (love the meat). And the one time I go with a guide. I didn't even see a bear. Now I am going to South Africa April of 2019. So that will obviously be guided.
For the record I think you should be able to enter more than one buck in the contest. Very few states comparatively have one buck limits.
You can enter 2 bucks, but only your first counts as a buck score. I think the contest is fair as it is, would be a far different contest and probably less popular if you could enter 2 buck scores per entrant, most are only allowed one and quite a few can't shoot bucks.
I don't think it would be less popular at all. If you look at the number of states/provinces that have whitetail seasons...most have multiple buck limits. most hunters are allowed to shoot more than one.
One buck and one Fergie/doe is good. I wouldn't change that. It for sure won't be fair for many if multiple bucks are scored.
