Damn!!! I just came across this thread. So, in Oklahoma, early goose and teal season starts the 9th of this month. I've been getting ready for two months now. Just gotta scout the next couple of days to finalize our game plan for opening morning.
It was actually a local bird that I had helped the DNR band back in 2014. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
I've never been skunked there before. 2 downfalls though. 1) It's in a big bowl so it's tough to get the bird's attention. I have to run to the top of the hill to flag most of the time and then run back down to hide. 2) On top of the hill behind the spread is public land.
Just got the okay to hunt this pond. It's near a decent size lake that gets a lot of birds throughout the season. I'm excited to have a spot I can walk to and not have to worry about others on public land. I think I'm going to make up some kind of extra cover like Travis did. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
We've been out all week looking for fields to shoot this weekend and have been denied some 4 or 5 times. Each one was already being hunted. The plan is to just run traffic on the field we hunted on the opener which is still getting a few birds.
Going out on my first hunt of the season tomorrow. Though, if I had two more minutes I would have had my limit (one bird) yesterday. Had a flock about 50 birds circling the back yard. One group broke off and started landing and either I spooked them or the dog. I was just expecting them to fly over! We're the opposite - getting tons of fields, just no luck keeping the birds in them daily. There one day gone the next...blah. Edit, and I do have Snap. Give me a heads up and I promise I wont snap 100 pictures of my puppy to you. dirt_princess72
