I shoot #2 all year round on everything. Maybe BB for late season honkers. Then again I only shoot 2 3/4 " shells. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
Box Blind. I shoot #2 on everything as well. If the difference in shot is what kills a bird for you, spend more time at the trap range. Damaging meat; that's a another story for some, but not for me Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Here is our last two days. We shot awful the past two days. I mean so bad that it took almost a whole box of shells to knock down 3 birds. its hard to hit them at 10 and 15 yards. But still fun to decoy them like that even if you don't hit them.
I shoot 3's,2's,& BB's. Just depends on the range. I also shoot a improved cylinder choke. I think some of my problem this week was birds to close and giving them to much lead.
DWB, is that a golden eye in the top pic, and if so how do you prepare them? We have so many around here, but everybody says they don't taste good.
Yes it is. What we do with all our ducks is we make a roast. Take 1. 1 packet ajus seasoning 2. 1 packet dry ranch dip packet 3. 1 stick of butter Put it in a crockpot cook it till it falls apart. About half way through put some banana peppers in there. People say divers are no good. But where I'm from they taste fine. The only thing I cannot bring myself to eat is a hooded merganser.
I would love to have a bunch of them to shoot. We don't get huge amounts here where I'm from. Its a trophy bird here.
We have shot 5 in the past 3 or 4 years but only 2 drakes. They are really hard to decoy. They like to sit with there on kind. And like to be off to the side by there self. A lot of times they just burn over the top of the decoys and if your not ready they are gone before you can shoot. That's my experience with them anyways. I don't know about everyone else.
A few have been killed over the years around here. Just haven't been lucky enough to get one. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
I have some buddies that kill a bunch (hunt every day of season). They put all together and grind it all. It’s pretty good. So don’t hesitate to duck down and get you some! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
