I'm not Tring to pull you from your taxidermist. But if you ever look to change you could look into wings over water taxidermy by Blake Wilson. He does all my work. He is super good to.

The guy we used moved out of state recently. I prefer someone that I can see their work upfront. Not sure who we'll use for the waterfowl now. We gave a local guy a shot at our snow geese...but he now isn't answering calls and they were supposed to be done a couple months back. Will be making a trip when husband has time.

I understand completely. Blake is out of Alabama. I heard about him and looked him up online. Now I either ship my birds to him or drop birds of when I pick finished birds up. It was a worry for us to send them without seeing his work first hand. But once we looked at pics online there was nobody around here that could touch him. I hope you find someone you like and does you right.

Went out with my old man and shot a nice mixed bag this morning. 4 mallards, a wigeon, a gadwall, and a drake woodie.

Shot a few birds this morning including a pretty unique one. Drake mallard with a light blue bill. Anyone ever see this before? Doesn't seem to be a cross of any kind as the rest of the bird is entirely mallard. Some brief research just says pigmentation/genetic fluke. You can really see the difference from the other birds in the last pic.

No season until Dec 12th. Except for the crappy Nov season. I'm scheduled off work from Dec 15-26th. Hoping I don't get screwed out of vacation with my work load.

We haven't had much luck yet this year. Been watching a field for roughly a month with geese. Easily 100 birds by mid morning. Let it sit until this past weekend. Birds were there every day....except Saturday. It was cold, wet, and ended up windy. Just our luck anymore.

Good shoot this morning. A lot of new birds showing up here. Way more pintails and gadwall around than I've seen in the past couple years as well.

The geese have just started moving down since Friday night. I went out for a little bit this morning, but everything was flying at nosebleed level. I'm taking some kids up to the Yellowstone River to bow hunt this afternoon, so I am going to set up across the farm on some winter wheat. Gotta make that duck stamp pay for itself.

I buy 2 stamps every year. 1 to stick on the license and sign. And the other to save.

I'm thinking about doing that too. The value of the stamp may not increase in monetary terms, but the value of the memories, and the contribution to waterfowl conservation is sure worth it.

Well, this was the result of my afternoon. Silky reached a milestone today when I shot the pheasant she not only found it, she delivered it all the way to me. I doubled on the Canadas, and they both landed within 30 feet. She ran out to grab the first one, but it was still flapping a bit, and it seemed like it was a bit big for her. Then she ran over to the second one, but still didn't pick it up. Considering some of the chunks of wood she has been dragging around she should be able to carry a goose. For an 11 month old owned by someone who has never trained a dog before she is doing great.[IMG]

Those Canada's can be intimidating for a young dog.
