thanks; which part of the state do you guys head? heading up to check the beaver pond tomorrow after work, hopefully they are thick in there! should be a interesting opener with these various weather patterns we've had. atleast its not going to be 90 like it was a couple of years ago. there hasnt been any real cold evenings yet, so i would think we kept most of our teal and woodies
Suppose to be 90 the next few days. But our opener is suppose to be a nice and cool. Morning temps in the high 40s and high of 62. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Depending on the weather, I'm hoping to try my first river hunt Saturday morning. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Still no clue where to hunt opening morning. Do we go to public land and deal with all the people or hit up the little pond and hope the wood ducks show up? I'm going to check the pond one morning soon and see what it looks like. We might be able to get back into some secluded public land spots as well though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If I had private water I'd choose that all day long. Do they roost there? Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Could be a good spot to sleep in set a couple decoys out after first light. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
I would go check them out and see whats going on; not sure how hard it gets hit out in IL, but if its like here you have your fair share of scouting to find an isolated public land piece
I'm actually in WI now. I've heard the public land spots get kinda hard opening weekend but it does down a lot after that. There are some spots we found because of OnX maps that are public land but not listed specifically online or marked on the dirt roads to them. (WI has a ton of public land like this) so I don't think these spots will get hit as hard and we might hunt something like that if they are holding ducks. Which most have been lately Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Maybe. I'm going to check I out after work one morning to get a better idea. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You knock down some geese that's for sure. Wish we had them around like that. The great "goose capital of the world " southern Illinois died in the early 90's. we start seeing them pretty good about few weeks before season ends. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
You hunt up north right? Those woodies will be gone as soon as the temps drop. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
