You guys are machines when it comes to finding sheds! Going out this weekend to hopefully find number #1
Ended up pulling 4 on my shedcation day. 2 fresh dinks and 2 old. Also found a freshly shed dead buck but never could locate the sheds. Assuming he got hit by a car so I need to check in the woods on the other side of the road if I can find a good area.
Good job sheddin! I would check the ditch were you think it might have got hit also. They may have popped off during the hit.
Very nice sheddinva I need to just follow you around and get excited when you find them. I haven't been out in over a week. I need to try to look some more
Thanks, I did check what I could of the ditch and no luck. For me to get out I have to go on lunch breaks. That is when I find 90% of my sheds.
#19 today. I had about given up and was walking out to the church I had parked at and voilà. Went back in but never could find the other side.
Picked up 2 more today on some public land. 1 fresh one that I got his matched set last year and a old 5 point side.
Had 2 new personal bests on Saturday. 9 in one day and up to 28 on the year. 3 fresh and 6 old. I'm sure I missed some and after you see the ATLs you'll know why lol.
Went out Saturday and we still had a lot of snow on the ground so it made it hard to find anything. Went to check on two buck beds that I had found a few weeks ago and ended up finding two sets of tracks walking right by the beds, one child sized boot print and one adult. I may know why I'm not finding anything now.
I would start looking on other properties, like as much public land as you can find. Also just because you find tracks it doesn't also mean that they picked up all the sheds. I have walked the same property multiple times a year and continue to pick up sheds trip after trip. Just keep at it and walk as much as you can. Also try to find where the deer are right now, they may not be on your property this time of the year.
Alright guys I updated the totals and check and make sure your Totals are correct. If not I will fix them. With this past weekend Totals it put us in 2nd and only 7 sheds from 1st! You guys are doing great!
Walked my nearest county park and ended up finding a lot of deer sign but no sheds. The county park backs up to a golf course so I may try and get permission to walk the course to look for sheds. Learning a lot on every walk I take!
Got the match today to the shed I found on Saturday. Now I have matched sets to the same buck for 3 years in a row. The little pocket of woods I have found them in is public land and I have heard talk that they may open it up to bow hunting next year. So this may be the last year if that happens. Of course I could always go after him next year, I do know exactly where he beds!
I would go after him if they open it up. You have a good history with him. Would be great if you got him !! Tim
I am seriously thinking about. I never hunted public land before and know a lot of hunters hunt this park. But if they open this area up im sure this buck will get blown out quick. He has a awesome escape route, he beds right on the state line and when you enter the woods he runs out the back into private land on the next state over. He would be tough to hunt. Might be a fun challenge!
