Got 4 total and 3 dead heads. 1 of the sheds is a main beam that broke off right after the brow tine.
Congrats on the sheds! I have the same problem here, I think 75% of the bucks are still carrying. Not finding much fresh dropped sheds yet. I find most of mine on public land, and the competition is crazy! The second something drops everyone is on top of it.
My brother and I hit a new spot yesterday and pulled 5 in the rain. He found an old matching set laying side by side and then found a fresh one that was broken off right after brow tine. I then found 2 fresh ones but they weren't a match so there are some nice sheds laying somewhere close by. Put me at 11. Guess we'll have to go back. End of the day pic
Thanks, that was right before we got chased by several skunks for 15 mins. Good thing I found it before because I probably wouldn't have afterwards. One of the more interesting shed hunts I've been on lol
I have had a few skunk scares looking for sheds in tall grass. The best one was when Tyler was pretty young. He was walking down a trail when a really large raccoon step out of the cattails on the same trail. Tyler spins around and runs the other way screaming while the raccoon spins and runs back into the cattails. I laughed my arse off as I watched it. Tyler got pay back two minutes later when he found a really nice match set of sheds. We called the them the Coon Set. I would have found them but Tyler wasn't going to walk in the cattails knowing that big coon was still in there so we switched spots. Darn kid !! LOL Last year my daughter Britney was walking in between to old wooden grainaries. Something growled at her from underneath one of them. Pretty sure it was a raccoon. She took off running and screaming. Course just like a horror movie... she is looking back as she runs and wipes out. Then she started laughing as she is laying on the ground. If it had ran after her, it wouldn't have had any problem catching her. I told her you never look back when you run... you just run !! Haven't you seen those horror movies ??? I got a good laugh out that one too.
I got out one day last week with snow still on the ground and I found nothing. Getting back out a couple times this week since all the snow is now melted.
Went to check my cam yesterday and found this small 3 pt. What sucks is my cam should have been on that small tree straight ahead but someone stole it. Would have been cool to see picks of him as he was shedding too.
That sucks about the camera, shed season is a bad time to have a camera out. I went and pulled all mine yesterday for that reason.
Yeah I was hoping to pinpoint when they started dropping so I guess God left me a sign (antler) since the camera wasn't there to confirm it lol
Found numbers 13 and 14 today. They are matches to my 2 biggest sheds that I found last year, I just missed these until now. I won't mention that they were only 20 yards away from one of the sheds last year...I feel like an idiot but I know I walked over there but the grass must have had them hid or something. Picked up #5 this afternoon- a trophy spike the size of my pointer finger. Other than that, I've come across a couple dead does in my recent shed hunting adventures.
