Received my tent in the mail today and I'm in love with it! I went with the Big Agnes Flycreek UL1. Weighs in at just over 2 pounds with the stakes, tent, rain fly, poles, footprint, and stuff sacks. Now I need to go through all my gear and figure out exactly what else I need/want. Also need to start figuring out how to pack my pack and how much it's going to weigh. Hopefully I can have a fairly light pack with all the essentials and only stuff I'll actually use. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Brand new with the footprint it would run right around the $379 mark. Without footprint $320 or so. I got a killer deal on AT for $200 with the footprint. Deals can be had!
Careful dan...he'll be getting you in "the boot"!!! Wish I was able to go again this year...love it out there...can't wait for the stories! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk
I'm not on the forums as much as I used to be right now, but I enjoy dropping in and following you guys headed out there this year. 2018 is my realistic elk year with vacation slots at the new job. The generosity Will gives with this camp is remarkable. Sent from my LGLS991 using Tapatalk
I go because I'm addicted to hunting Elk...but I could spend another whole week just hanging in camp...the scenery, the stories, the peacefulness...and the quick trips to Red Cliff or Leadville...I love time in the mountains! Here's a quick tour of our camp in 2013 - off year for Will's big camp.
OK...now that it's June it's time to get serious about Elk Camp! -Who's all taking up Will on his great offer to attend camp? -What have you been doing to get ready?
I've been running 3-5 nights a week. Anywhere from 2-4 miles. Gonna start walking the other nights with a 50 pound pack. Shooting has been tough since I sliced my finger open and it hurts too bad. Should be ready to start shooting next week. Fitness wise I'll be ready to roll! Between work, running, and getting the house ready to sell, I haven't had much free time! I can barely contain myself, so looking forward to getting in the Mountains. I've been doing the Shaun T Insanity program, walking with my KUIU ICON 5200 loaded with 40lbs and running 2-3 miles, I'm ready to go and am confident I won't be at the back of the pack. 24th June I'm off up the Snowdon Mountain range in Wales with Andy, as a pre Elk Camp trial, just to see how things fit, feel and pack. Got another planned in August too
-I'm planning on being there, still not sure how I'll get there from NC. -Getting ready @Exercising daily (~10k-20k steps/day; hills when/where I can find them; with 70-100# pack when I'm home) - Lost 40# @bought more gear - still looking to pick up a few more pieces. @Calling-need to get on it. @Licensing-need to test out based on my age (50) for cert, buy license in CO. @Bow practice on weekends. Need to practice longer distances but reasonably comfortable to 40#; Also need to work on angles but my stands going up in the backyard range may have to suffice. @Backpack camping trip dry run - I'll probably take a weekend backpack trip to the Blue Ridge mtns/Appalachian Trail (sans camo and weapon) should be a check.
