If he isn't dead set on gas operated I wouldn't count out the Franchi Intensity for around the same $. I used my uncles when I went to Minnesota on a goose hunt this year and that was enough to make up my mind. I'm getting one instead of the super black eagle 2 Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Tool my boys twice this week, they did well. Didn't last too long as it was pretty cold. Had 3 birds work a little on the second day, oldest who was ready to shoot got pumped, but not close enough for his 20 ga. They already made me plan a trip to west Tennessee for them next year over break. I head out there Thursday, I'm excited.
Need to drop that 20ga and get a 12ga semi and use 2 3/4" shells. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
I'll have to have him look at that. He sent the Versa Max back to Remington and turns out something was bent. Hopefully that fixes the issues. Still going to purchase another waterfowl gun, though.
Had a great field hunt yesterday evening. Shot 24 honkers 4 mallards and 1 black duck. 1 goose was banded from franklin county PA which is about 40 miles north of here. We also got a banded drake mallard. It was banded locally. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
Amazon shopping - what is the best bag to use for full body goose decoys? Friend picked up 42 birds from a CraigsList ad, so husband offered to buy bags - but full bodies are hard to fit into a regular. ...and it's on the list to buy an enclosed trailer to haul all of the decoys and stuff he keeps buying. Whoever suggested it to me was right, would be the same amount of money to sell out of racing and just put all the money into this sport!
Mini bulk seed bags are also very nice to throw decoys in if you have a way to transport them. It all depends on how much a guy wants to baby his decoys. We have 6 slot bags for everything we have but there's a lot of times I wish we would just throw them in the back of the truck or trailer and go or in a seed bag. We have mostly XFD lessers so trying to keep the flocking from getting destroyed too much by using bags. If we were to buy again, I'd just get all painted lessers.
Get more. Thats all we run here. Full bodies are too much work and take up way too much space. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
In the early season you may do fine with mixing silohuetts and full bodies or shells. But come late season if your mixing up decoy types you wont pull in birds. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
We haven't had too much luck with the silhouettes. They worked in the early season - but by late season it wasn't working well. They've since switched to shells and 3D's for the remainder of season. They do take up a lot of space. Hear ya there. Going to be purchasing an enclosed trailer here shortly if one pops up at a reasonable price.
I agree with Dogfish. I did the enclosed trailer and massive full body spread thing for years. Finally got tired of it sold all the fullbodys except for half a dozen mallards and went to an all silo spread. I NEVER wished I had the full bodies. I can kill them on the X or run traffic in the late season. They work, if your not getting it done look at something else (hide, lack of movement, calling, location, etc etc). There is plenty of other (better) ways to spend your waterfowling dollar than on full body goose decoys.
To each thier own. We kill migratory and seasoned birds all year long with silohuetts. If your have problems getting birds to come in it is something other then your decoys. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
