Got a green head tonight walking down a frozen ditch with some open spots. Two drakes got up and I surprised myself by dropping the one I shot at. I think that is my first duck or goose since 2003. When I moved from Minnesota to Nebraska I quit waterfowling.
My season has been over for a while now but I saw the first flock of geese in a couple weeks fly over work today. Late season around here is absolute crap. Good luck to everyone that's still hunting.
I thought you had some pond pics with them covered up in ducks? Or did I imagine that?? Lol Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
Last two hunts of the year tomorrow and Sunday.. we have a 2 day split on Dec 31 and Jan 1 but I cant imagine there will be many birds around let alone not totally frozen over. I'll keep you guys updated on how this weekend goes.
3 mallards, a black duck, and a goose today. Could have had a few more but we were being greedy on our shots and really wanted the birds to finish in the hole.
From this fall??? Not unless a me from an alternate universe posted on here, lol. We have good water in the marshes this fall but birds have been very few and far between so far. I guess due to the really warm weather and lack of cold fronts, just a guess.
Sunday was a bust, no wind whatsoever and sunny- just a bad recipe for ducks where I hunt. It was a great learning year for me. Ended with just under 50 birds for 14 hunts, made a lot of memories and even got a couple new places for next year. Time to start looking for sales and building an even bigger and better spread for next year
Went up to Minnesota to hunt with some good buddies. We had a blast despite low bird numbers and cruddy weather. Still managed to scratch a few Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Our second season opens this coming weekend. I drove out to our local refuge this evening. Tons of new mallards in. Saturday should be fun. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Tapatalk
2nd year booking hunt with Molt. Met Scott a long time ago. The guys at Molt Gear are great guys. If anyone wants to hunt in the Rochester MN area i would highly recommend. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Very nice! Couple of my most memorable hunts were in Rochester. Buddy of mine lives two miles on the east side of the refuge so his family knows a lot of the landowners. We had permission for about 300 acres directly across the gravel road from the refuge so we were the first spread the geese saw. 4 days straight of a 4 man limit and 3 bands on one trip.
Thays awesome! There isnt very many birds there right now and the ones that are there are stale. After this cold shot this week they will probably be covered up. They still managed to finish some wary geese for us. Helps having 3 world champion and a minnesota state champ all calling at the same time! Now i consider myself an above average caller but man! it was amazing to here them work together. Your story sounds more like our the trip last year. This is a pic of it from their fb page. yea out of pits. just west of town. had a good bunch of good shooters. Wish we got geese down here like they do. Southern IL definitely sucks anymore. Where abouts do you hunt? Sounds like you get into the geese pretty good Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
I hunt in SW MN. Do pretty good for the limited amount of time I get to hunt. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
Me and my boy went out today. He ended up killing his first duck! I don't know who was more excited. Him or me. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Tapatalk
