I think the ducks are getting close. Pretty much on top of us.

Awsome hunt this am! Shot a two man limit of canadas with my buddy. The weather was perfect, heavy overcast but not raining and enough wind to steer the birds but not too much to keep em hanging over our spread all day. We had birds everywhere, they were all coming in in smaller flocks of 3 to 12 birds and landing right in the pocket. [IMG]

Awesome, nice work. We are getting ready to head out for day two. Hopefully we do well in the daily lottery. It's going to be a busy one.

Well yesterday was rough. We got skunked. Weather sucked ducks just weren't flying. Got out this morning on a pond and scrapped out a few mallards. One more day tomorrow.

Here is a little update. I used seat on 4 hunts while I'm MI. It was mainly used in flooded corn but I did use it once in a private pond that had some thick muck and branches scattered throughout. It held up really well in both areas. The seat has a lot of holes to adjust he height of the seat which is nice. The base is plenty wide I feel like. Once you get it placed it is really solid and I didn't feel very much movement from the whole thing if any. As far as the actual seat. It is similar in shape to a tractor seat. When I initially felt it and sat down in the yard it felt flimsy. But after using it wasn't a problem. It got thrown in the boat and the back of the truck and it was fine. If you do somehow break it the have just the seat you can buy for $20 i think. There is a pin to adjust the height and one to remove the seat for better storage and they are both attached by a cable so you can't lose them. Overall I'm super happy with this purchase. It really comfortable and will get a ton of use throughout the season.

Edit- I will add that I'm not a skinny guy. Sit around 225# I don't see a problem for a bigger guy using this either.

Thanks. I had the banded one with a different seat on it. Maybe I'll give this one a shot. Im 6'5, I think I'm just too tall for them.

Yeah you're almost a foot taller than me I don't know the exact amount of adjustment but I would think it would be okay for you. I guess you'll never know unless you try it for yourself.

Going out tomorrow morning. I put in for the lottery on a couple spots near me and you get one day at a blind and I got lucky enough to get a day. It will be a nice cool morning just a little high pressure but I just heard 2 guys killed 10 ducks yesterday there so I'm hoping we will at least kill something.

There are definitely some new ducks that have moved into central IL. I've been out a few times so far this year. First couple hunts just killed woodies and teal. Went out today and we shot three gadwall and a greenhead. Nice to see some bigger ducks making their way in.

Saw a decent number of ducks up flying around the lake but not a lot working. The ones that did get close knew the game lol local birds for sure. We were able to scrape out 3 mallards. 2 drakes and a hen. Not a terrible morning. Just waiting for that push.

Not trying to hijack this thread, but, I was wondering if anyone has ever used a kayak to hunt out of. I've been wanting to get back into duck hunting and hunting from a yak appeals to me. Just gives me one more reason to get a kayak. Mind you it's been 30+ years since I've duck hunted with my father. So I know next to nothing or well below it.
I was looking at the Native Ultimate 12fx as the kayak to hunt out of.
    Thanks for any advice.

My buddy bought a kayak this year because it qualified for health insurance as workout equipment. He uses it for duck hunting and absolutely loves it. You're able to get to areas most guys only wish they could get to.

Yeah you should be fine with one i would just make sure you get one that's plenty wide and has some storage options. But I also know nothing about kayaks.

Thank you. You should really get back out. It had been a little bit for me too but as always it's a good time.

I've been duck hunting out of my Jackson Coosa for 5-6 years now. I hunt small rivers so I only need 6-8 decoys and I just load my waders into the storage compartments. Wear a life vest!

Went out this morning and shot a ring neck and a ruddy duck. Everything around here is super stale. We need new birds bad. Heavy north winds and cooler temps this weekend so hopefully that sends a few down. It should (hopefully) pick up in the next couple weeks.

Just got back from waterfowl hunting trip. We hunted the creeks that feed into the ohio river hoping for alot of wood ducks. This November season for our area is rough when it hasnt been cold. Yesterday morning we were able to put 5 ducks down and 1 goose.

We got 3 black ducks. Hen mallard and 1 wood duck. This morning we only put 1 drake mallard down. Not many birds moving.
