I've never tried the talkers. I prefer spoons (same ones I use crappie fishing). Went to Leech last year and hammered them. Don't need anything fancy... Perch will bite just about anything.
Yes and no. Minnewaska you can catch perch by the truck load but to weed out the small ones is the key which isn't always easy.
Very true. I bought a few of the Hali Sukkula Jigs. Biggest waste of money. You never know unless you try! I can't stop buying new spoons... Pretty sure I've got about 20 the last 2 years.
I got out yesterday to a private subdivision that my grandma lives at and there is a about a 6 acre body of water there. I checked it out and it's a little under 7 inches of ice in the spots I checked. I just need to find the fish now. There are a ton of blue fill in the little body of water. Each summer they have a tournament to thin it out and they pull in over a 1000 fish in 6 hours each year. It's crazy. There are good size bass and a few walleye in there. So if I don't catch something it's a problem lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
They did. We were able to drive out. Fishing was slow. We got 9 between 4 guys. Way too much beer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Each year I hear about someone going through the ice in Michigan, but this year it happened way earlier than I expected. Last night a good friend texted me about an old timer we always talked with at one of our annual fishing tournaments and how he had passed away from drowning this past weekend out on the ice. Guy went out fishing by himself and fell through the ice on Big Bear lake in northern Michigan. His car was found in the parking lot with accumulated snow and a frozen minnow bucket on the hood of the car, 6 hours later he was found dead. Please don't venture out on the ice too early, and please always fish with a partner!
It's hard to find the crappies on red these days. Especially when it's -30 and you can't run and gun to find the fish. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yeah I bet, I remember people were hammering them 15 years ago when we went Sent from my SM-G930V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Do you guys have much luck ice fishing the middle of the day? Looking to run and gun Friday, Ill have to check some reports for back home but I am open to any species really, big sunnies, big perch, crappies, or walleyes. It would be cool to find some walleyes but Im guessing they are the least active during the day?
I was 2 off. We got 7 - Buddy who took them just sent me a pic. They did say we did better than most rentals but it was nothing like it used to be. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
What lake you plan on going to? If you haven't already, download Navionics and research before you blindly hit the ice. Will never go without that app again.
Check out the crack that opened on red yesterday. I would have **** my pants. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
