Just like that or did you also add live bait onto the hook? I'm going after crappie this year for the first time in a long time so I am looking for pointers. Thanks! For you Mille Lacs guys here's In-Depth Outdoors latest trip to Mille Lacs. Sounds like things are improving there. I'll be there for the perch fest in February. Gotta win me an ice castle like greatwhitehunter3's through the raffle Not sure how much fishing I'll be doing though my group wants to stay on land for some reason and they're more of the drink alot/fish little type. Got on the ice for the first time this year this past weekend and killed the crappies. Ended up getting over 50 for the day but most of them were pretty much fry. Used the smallest tungsten gold jig I could find and tipped it with a spike, which caught most of the fish and also caught a few on my fly I had tied 12" above jig. Was only out for the afternoon but had a good time. Hoping to hit up saginaw bay in a few weeks for some hog walleye and perch.
Just like that! This was actually turned around (I had the tail on the jig end most of the time) because it was getting destroyed and it was the only way it would stay on. This one plastic lasted a whole weekend and probably 35 crappies. Was still catching keepers this way though. I was out fishing my cousin 5-1 with him using live bait (full crappie minnow). The pictured jig also caught all the keeper walleyes. Here is what i was using. I have red too but didn't even bother to try it. Mino Head, 1 1/2" - Maki Plastics - Tackle - Clam
I guess I do not currently. There is another TV right on the left side (next to cupboard above stove) of the picture that you cant see but it's for the underwater camera. The shelf on the left side of stove is for the camera to sit on. Back is a double bunk and dinette on the ground and another single bunk above that. Futon folds out so can sleep 6 comfortably.
Yeah it would. I start a new job in a couple weeks so it might work it might not. But I can try. How far would we be fishing from say galena, IL? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You're looking at roughly 6 to 7 hours of driving if we hit Mille Lacs or the Alexandria area. I'm not familiar with Southern MN lakes but Travis might have some ideas.
You fish around Alexandria area normally? My cabin is up there and would love to meet up for a day or two! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Really only fish 1-2 lakes down here and it's normally not as good as this past weekend was. I would think Alex area would be best bet, especially if a guy wants to run-gun with portables.
Could use the one I was in this weekend but it's actually my cousin's house so that throws a wrench in there. Guess it all depends if a guy wants to use portables or a house.
I was thinking a little bit of both. Go mobile during the day then come back to the house at night to fish. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
How do you guys like cooking up your fish? Always down to try out new stuff. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I always dip it in flour, milk and then Shore Lunch of choice. Eat it like pictured above, sandwiches or tacos.
Mmmm tacos. I know what I'm doing with the next batch I cook up lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
