I get started this weekend too. I will be freshening the mineral sites, get cameras going, and start planning the work to be done to the cabin. I need to put in chimney pipe for the wood burner and hang gutters on the cabin.

I would ask Lester. He knows a lot about hunting tied up deer.

Refreshed my mineral site from last year and also created a new site on the other side of the property last weekend.

Not sure about you guys... But starting/refreshing mineral sites is one of the best moments of the season for me!

I will be leaving the property alone for a while now. I'll let the farmer get the crops in and then check out my cams in about a month or so.

Well I've done quite a bit of hiking and scouting since my last post here. 24.4 miles according to my GPS.

I'm pleased to say I've locked down 3 separate leases to hunt. One of them I think might be better than the lease I was on last year. I've got a lot of work there including stands, plots, cams, etc. I'm basically starting from scratch.

I've also spent a fair chunk of those miles hiked on public ground. I've scouted 3 seperate pieces. Unfortunately, these pieces didn't really produce anything I'd want to spend serious time hunting. Two of the leases I'm on this year are about 10 miles apart and that county has roughly 6500 acres of public ground. I'm going to try and spend a bit more time on some of those parcels of public land in the next few weeks so I have some backup options while I'm in that part of the state.

    Here's my list!!

Hinge cut a one more area for bedding

Clear a few trails for easy traveling for the deer.

Start pulling up saplings and small bushes for my first ever food plot on the area I cleared a year ago.

Wait till stuff starts to grow, kill it all, till with a hand tiller, lime it all, plant clovers maybe somthing else
