Im also curious to shoot one and see for myself! I do find humor in the slow comments especially when I use to kill Deer way back when with 240 fps.

    Uhmmm ok.
I wouldn't buy anything because of the name. My current bow is the first Mathews I've owned in 8 years. I will still hold my judgment until I can shoot one. It seems like a lot of people that have shot it like it.

In do time one will wear the Mathews name, the only draw back is it will probably cost 5000 bucks or more. The more I look at the Mathews 2015 line up the more I like my old Switchback.

For now, never judge a bow by its looks but by its performance. After all, these are archery competition bows and they are not in for a beauty contest.

So.....Mathews re-invented the wheel? Gotta love it. You might as well just pick up a used Switchback XT.....they're faster, draw smoother and are just as dead and quiet at the shot and you can probably get one for a third of the price of an HTR. The HTR is hitting a consistent 310 IBO with the 85% let off mods in it. Not exactly a speed demon!

Well just got back from the shop and got to shoot the HTR. Wasn't really sure what to think from just looking at the pictures and the specs. I have to say after shooting it I am really impressed. I am still shooting a Helim but I must say this bow is much better. The weight wasn't noticeable but not having it setup with my accessories it is hard to tell. The draw was unbelievably smooth and the back wall was as solid as any bow I have ever shot. The rizer design in person really looks great. Think this will be on my purchase list in the next few weeks!!!

Glad to hear from someone who has shot it. I know you said the weight wasn't noticeable but how did it feel in your hand?

Why is everyone so wrapped up with speed these days. Fred Bear sure took plenty in his day and I highly doubt he was getting 300 fps

I keep thinking the same thing. It's like someone told them you don't have to aim if your bow shoots 350fps. It might not be the "fastest" but they're all fast enough to kill anything walking around on 4 legs if your aim is true.

It's quite amazing how much attention this new lineup is getting. I wonder if the new Bowtech, Elite, Hoyt, Bear, Martin bows get this amount of attention, good or bad. I think Mathews should feel quite the compliment that people are holding them to such high expectations.

Bow felt awesome! To be honest it felt way faster then my Helim. The grip was similar to what I have now but the shock was non existent. And it is night and day different when it came to noise. Saw Todd today also and he is really excited about it also after getting to test it out!

Yeah, I had to stop and shoot one today as well. I guess I'm the odd duck out on this one. "To Me" It was a dud, didn't care for it at all. The only thing it had that I liked was dead in the hand. Didn't care for the draw cycle or the over all feel of it all that much. After getting to look at it in person, Wasn't impressed with it in the least. I wouldn't trade a Helim or Creed for 3 of them. I really like those two bows that Mathews put out. Hopefully Mathews will come out with something better in their single cam line. The Z2 i'm sure is a great shooting bow. Like all their other single cams. I'm sure I'll get hammered for saying this...lol. Oh well, I do like a few of their other bows.

Got the chance to shoot the htr today. I thought it was alright. The draw was smooth and the bow was quiet. In my opinion it doesn't even make the top 5 for recent Mathews bows. Even the creed and creed xs I liked more and those aren't even my favourite Mathews bows. One thing I did like is that it's a bit longer ata. 32" is a decent ata but I guess I preferred at least 32 if not a bit longer but that's a personal thing. As far as the weight goes it definatley felt heavier than the advertised 4.3 lbs. I think what Mathews should do is offer a hunting bow lineup like hoyt. Have different bows with different ata's, bh's and bow weights that way everyone can get something they like. Mathews has 1-2 hunting rigs for people to consider while hoyt has 6-7. But my honest opinion of the htr is that it's a decent bow beside the ugly look. I like the longer ata and it's smooth and quiet. Heavier bare bow than my element with all my accessories on it. ( and I just shoot it bare bow with a rest, no sight) in my opinion - for all you Mathews guys looking to "upgrade" from even a helium, creed, creed xs or chill bows. I wouldn't even consider the htr over any of those. That's my opinion.

Went to my local pro shop today and shot the HTR. My take is that it was smooth in the draw cycle, was solid in the back wall, didn't try to jump and it was quiet and dead in the hand. I shot a Chill R also with the 75% let off mods and didn't like it as well as it felt very harsh on the draw. Changed to the 85% mods and if felt much better. I'm shooting a Z7 Extreme and I don't think I will "upgrade". To give the bow it's due it is smoother to draw than my Z7x.

I was skeptical at first but when I shot it I was pleasantly surprised. Still not as smooth as my Energy 35 but absolutely dead in hand at the shot and I thought it balanced out real nice. I urge everyone to try it before they knock it.

It may not be faster, lighter, cheaper, or better looking than everyone else's flagship hunting bow but what they just pulled off is revolutionary with this cam system, maybe it will be a bust but let's be honest these guys are pros when it comes to building some of the finest bow on the market, and they say more R&D has gone into this bow than any other. I'm sure it will be a great bow and comparable to the rest on the shelf. They took a giant leap this year, they'll shave off a few ounces next year and add 5-10fps, one step at a time... I'm a hoyt guy, and the Nitrum is on top of my list of preferences for next season, but if you're too biased to close your eyes and go shoot some brilliant engineering than that's on you.

    Shot it last last night.
    Nocam HTR

it's smooth but STIFF all the way through it holds it weight through what seems to be 2/3 of the cycle ...ouch, plotting it's draw force curve confirmed this. Solid back wall as expected with any bow with cable stops.
Not what I expected at all from a bow that is moderate in performance. Smooth is great ...a recurve is smooth too...but your holding a lot of way all the way through the cycle.
I can rattle off several cams systems that I think are smoother and have a much more comfortable cycle.

It's very dead in the hand, no vib or feed back...but with its weight why should we expect any?
WAY too top heavy and wants to fall forward big time, would need to back weight to prevent this with a sight and quiver...not happening with that mass weight.
The rubber bumpers on the cables are the biggest joke I seen lately on a 1k bow...the cables are slapping the cam/ mod ...and the bumpers are their solution.
Fit and finish( except for the rubber band aids ) were excellent, really top shelf.

Looks wise..uglier in person. Has zero appeal to me....

The feed back from the others (shop owner, and couple of our friends) were basically the same that it was nothing they were crazy for.
Honesty he( the owner ) was convinced that the Z2 was going to be a bigger seller for him. He had about 15 shooters for the HTR and only one order so far.
