I think the Wake is one of the coolest looking bows I've seen in a long time. To each their own I guess. Rick James is correct - the amount of machining on the riser of this bow is ridiculous. It's a LONG riser with a lot of intricate details in it. Additionally it's got much fatter/thicker limbs, limb pockets and lots of other accessories as well. I held one next to an HTR and the Wake looks like it's on steroids. The entire bow is simply "beefier" for lack of a better word. It certainly isn't meant to be your average guy's hunting bow but for the person looking for the baddest bow on the block I think this is it.
Seeing as how Mathews is a sponsor and you probably get a new bow every year for free from them, I would expect you to say nothing less!
Says the guy with Mathews in his screen name and a Hoyt logo as his avatar. Hey, don't take my word for it. Go shoot one for yourself and see what you think.
The chill series is very smooth, no doubt about it. But any bow with a mass weight that high and a riser that long will inherently be quiet, dead in the hand and vibe free. Nothing ground breaking there. And 5 inch brace at 355 is pretty slow. Multiple bows with longer bh that are shooting faster. And while I'm sure it will shoot well it is too heavy and expensive for the average hunter. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Goes to show you I'm not a fanboy that gets stuff for free for saying how good it is. BTW,I have a Switchback XT and a CS34. I'm also getting an Xpedition Xcentric 7...does that get your panties in a wad too?
lol, seems as if you're the only one who has the undies all bunched up... Justin simply posted his view on the bow, because he had a chance to shoot it today. Cool your jets, dude.
You're obviously the one who doesn't have an idea how that whole situation works and assumes he gets bows for free. It's called Prostaff, not Freestuff. I'm not a Mathews sponsor and while i haven't seen it in person yet, i totally agree with Justin, it looks very detailed and well built. These new risers have alot of character and i think that was a cool move from Mathews. A long riser on a bow producing that kind of energy needs to be beefy. The mass weight will have its perks of less vibration and shock. the integrated grip on this bow is SWEET. i like that style even better than the Focus grips.
How do you figure? I just stated that's pretty much what he HAS to say about the bow and he has to take a shot at me about my screen name for it! I don't think I'm the one that needs to cool my jets. Must be I struck a nerve.
LOL...how the heck do you know? I WAS in the industry and still know people in it. One, in fact, is a higher up for a bow company. I know exactly how it works! Do you want to know how much Nugent gets paid to shoot his broadheads too?
I don't think anyone thong is yanked. I still can't see the reason for a $1700 price tag. Lots of bows out there that are a 350 IBO with much better specs and don't weigh as much as a truck. Sent from my Z665C
There isn't, other than they know they have their followers and they will buy it. There is a little extra machining and material cost but not anymore than some other bows that are $500 - $800 less. I'm trying to wrap my head around the wake and I just can't see the point of this bow at this price. What market does it fit, too heavy and too short a brace for 95% of what hunters want. Too short a brace for what 99.5% of what target shooters want. Too expensive for average hunters as well. I guess that's the only thing driving the price so high. Extremely small market with high production cost = high msrp.
There are a few that get free stuff but most staff guys get stuff at reduced pricing, not free and they have to work for that.
There was a shop last year that put out a bad review of mathews bows and they pulled his dealership. I'm sure the same would apply for a pro staffer bad mouthing a bow on a public forum. So I think they have no choice but to say positive things about mathews. And Justin, what features makes you say this is the "baddest bow on the block"? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I agree they have their followers that will pay it and it be the best sine sliced bread. Just seems like the weight of it is crazy. I mean I've shot a lot of bows that are faster and vib free. I'm not bashing Mathews at all. I really like some of their bows such as the Helium and first Creed. Myself, I don't care for the avs system. Did like the chill though. I guess its just the price of it is what I don't get. Just seems like nothing offered much to have that price. Sent from my Z665C
First of all, he didn't get his dealership pulled because of a poor review. There's a lot more to that story than most people know. Like Justin, I was able to put quite a few arrows through the Wake. This bow balances very well, it certainly doesn't "feel" as heavy as advertised. IMO, it is definitely the smoothest drawing 350+ bow I've ever shot. For those of you here that have shot the HTR, the Wake feels pretty much the same during the shot. Quite an amazing bow! SCFox
